Montana fights today to amend the Constitution and overturn Citizens United vs. FEC.

Hi All:

This is a note from Common Cause asking us all to help:

Today is the day! Today in Montana we begin the fight to amend our Constitution and overturn Citizens United v. FEC, one of the most disastrous Supreme Court decisions in living memory. Common Cause will file ballot initiative language with the Montana Secretary of State to adopt a new state policy declaring that corporations do not have the same constitutional rights as people.

This campaign won't be easy. The corporations and multimillionaires unleashed by the Court and now bankrolling the 2012 campaign aren't accustomed to losing.

But with your help, we can win. Can you help us continue our fight with a donation of $15, $25 or more today?

We're committed to campaign city by city, state by state, for ballot initiatives that will let citizens speak directly to their representatives in support of an amendment. Stand with Montanans launches this historic effort today.

Montanans decided a century ago to keep corporate money out of their elections; the Montana Supreme Court upheld that law just last December. But if the precedent set by Citizens United stands, elections there and across the country will be for sale to the highest bidder.

Elections are for we the people. Donate today to help us take them back.

Thanks for all you do,

Bob Edgar
President, Common Cause
