Nader's pimping another run, and mentioned a Website where he wants people to go in order to get him on the ballot.
Chris Jansing (MSNBC) asked him if he understands that some people see him as a "spoiler."
He said "Spoiler is a bigoted word used by the two parties that have spoiled our political system."

(38,549 posts)Is it not enough that opponents of policies that permit firearms to be carried around in public by one and all are now constantly (and even here at DU) being assailed with this "bigot" nonsense -- now an expression of an opinion about a political issue is to be called bigotry too??
Not that I necessarily agree wtih the opinion in question.
I'm a 40+ year member of a "third party" here in Canada. The Liberal Party here blows long and hard about how we're the spoilers, preventing them from getting their rightful seats and majority in the House. This year, we are the second party, the official opposition, and the Liberals are probably still whining about how we denied them their due and left them sitting as a rump at the far end of the chamber.
While there are many things I have called the Liberals who sing this sad refrain (including here at DU in the Canada forum for the last decade), it has never occurred to me to call them bigots.
indeed.
edited to fix garble

(25,406 posts)It's not so much that we support "the two party system" here on DU. It's more that we support the Democratic party.

The 2 party system is stale and unproductive.

(13,184 posts)Our currently existing and largely dysfunctional party system is not set in stone or preordained by God. Political parties aren't granted power; they have to earn it. People are free to vote for whomever they want.
Parties that fail to adapt to changing times become obsolete.
I vote for Democrats not because I'm enamored of their watere-down principals and corporate-friendly policies, but because they are less bad than Republicans.
This is a political party system that badly needs to be spoiled.
Go, Whigs!
