They are pushed by corporations so they can lower wages and benefits. And they never cared about workplace fatalities anyway.

Ugh. I wish people would wake up about unions. They came about for damn good reasons and it's stupid that we have to go back through it all to figure it out again. As a species, I really have my doubts about us.

I was shocked to find out that city workers are not even protected by OSHA in Florida. Really

defending the policy.

One would think they would recognize the discrepancies mentioned in the OP.

Propaganda is effective.

like names that mean the opposite of what the name implies. It is the right to fire you for any, or no reason at all. They cannot violate Federal law which only protects you from being fired for reasons of race, religion, sex, national origin, or disability. I may have forgot 1 or 2 more, but you get the picture.
Here in Gov., Good Hair's state they love it when businesses fire people, to them it's their God given right! Even many of the Union members have forgotten what the Union has achieved and value their guns more than their right to work, so they vote Republican. They won't wake up until after they are fired. Around here we have the biggest concentration of refineries in the country. A few are still union but fading fast. Many of the operators who leave the union plants to work for a non-union plant are shocked at the difference and when they are fired. They learn what it is like not to have a union steward and attorney fight for you. The refrain is always the same, I thought that the company liked me and that it only happened to other guys... "It's not fair, boo hoo!" Why does it always take things to go that far before they come out of the bubble and realize what they had. The old timers know, but most of them have retired or been phased out!
