I swear, Ron Paul has a damn cult. He should quit politics and start a cult, he'd make much more money. (Though I guess he kind of already is making money off of one).
I can't stand watching anything even remotely political on YouTube, solely because the comments are filled with people who scream "RON PAUL 2012" "JOIN THE REVOLUTION" or "RON PAUL=OUR ONLY HOPE YOU FUCKING LIBRULS!" I rarely post anything political on Facebook anymore, largely because of about three close family members who always fucking debate me about Austrian economics, even when I'm just making a fucking Santorum joke. I know their virtues all come from Ayn Rand and her justification for egomania and selfishness, but it's still absurd.
Can someone explain to me why Paulbots are so robotic? It's borderline creepy.

(6,960 posts)I especially like young people who find some political passion.
(Remember what the Repuglicans were saying about the young folks who were so passionately supporting Obama four years ago.)
And ... at least the Paulites tend to stick to their political philosophy. Contrast that to the other three candidates for the Repuglican nomination for president -- talk about a freakin' cult -- and this is a truly a political/religious cult of extreme fundamentalistic ultra-orthodox 12th century Christianity.
At this point, the Repuglicans should be so lucky to get Ron Paul as their nominee -- because he's actually looking somewhat sane compared to Rmoney, Santorum and Gingrich.

(1,033 posts)Whether it's on the left, the right, the middle, wherever. It's a good thing.
It's just Ron Paul's supporters seem so robotic to me, I don't know what it is. In the Obama camp, there were different schools of thought. Not in the Paul camp.

(25,415 posts)He claims to be a libertarian and yet look at his views on abortion. He would so interfere with your life. Its a bunch of bs. Romney is actually the least insane one. He has tried to move to the right socially as he has been attacked by other Repubs. He flip flopped on a lot of social issues. On financial issues Romney is a total mess, however.

They focus on what we liberals would agree with while sweeping racism and anti-semitism under the rug

(392 posts)so what has ron paul actually done about the federal reserve by being in congress since 1978? (and that was his motivation for becoming a congressman in the first place)
name just one thing?
(they cant, because he hasnt)
anyone can just vote no on everything
I actually agree with some of what he says, but 3 decades of non-delivery doesnt make the sale to me

Paul was here in Boise on Saturday and some of his supporters were just plain freaky looking.
Ever notice how some of them jump out of their chairs at his rallies and give a Hitler salute to Paul?
Then some of them are like Dr Strangelove, after they realize they have saluted Ron Paul that way, they reach up with their other arm and pull the saluting arm back down to their side.

Were I younger and crazier, I might go to a Ron Paul rally just to do THAT.

(2,176 posts)my nephew seems typical of them. He has failed at most things, is into guns, has never before been into politics before, he believes, as true, anything conspiratory that he reads on the internet, he is angry and has a terribly evil "sense of humor", and he doesn't think anyone should tell him anything. He is also not very bright.

(7,429 posts)Both of them are Paulbots. Everytime I post an anti-Repuke post on Facebook, the little idiot posts Ron Paul 2012. When I mention all of the moronic things Paul has done and said, he says something stupid about President Obama (like I'm brainwashed). Uh, I'm not the one posting Ron Paul 2012 all over the place. That's not an answer to any question. Why must you post it over and over again??

(24,461 posts)A few of my Paulbot friends are exactly how you described - not socially bright, slightly to very racist, heavily into guns, heavily into Oathkeepers, into conspiracy theories, etc, and they post Paul videos CONSTANTLY.
The other is a libertarian who was born into wealth and used the money from a six-figure position in his daddy's company to build his own brewery.
I've told these guys over and over and over again (you know, during the scant moment they're not talking) that Ron Paul is actually WORSE than the neo-Reaganite candidates in the GOP when it comes to economics, because he'd destroy the social safety net, not just cut funding. He seriously would throw the middle/working/poor to the wolves under the mantra "Sometimes you find strength when you have no choice but to BE strong".
