1. I think his equipment crashed today

Dr. Mike Newcomb filled in for the first few minutes of his show then they play part of fridays brunch with bernie. I think he went live at the bottom of the first hour

3. I think his time slot has changed

on SiriusXM since today was the launch of the SiriusXM Progressive station, formerly Sirius Left. According to their site, Thom's show is now going to be aired at 9:00 p.m. est on the SiriusXM Progressive station and live on SiriusXM Progressive Plus.

4. Not live anymore. Part of Liberty Media's more slow motion Clear Channel style reprogramming...

... of Sirius Left in to "Sirius Progress", where they bumped Thom Hartmann from his live slot to be Michelangelo Signorelli with more of a focus on LGBT issues rather than national progressive issues. Hartmann has now been delayed to a 9-midnight EST time slot.

Here's the new schedule...

http://www.siriusxm.com/siriusxmleft/weeklyschedule

Looks like Bill Press has been removed from the schedule too.

I'm thinking of perhaps finding a way to get a new car stereo that can work with either Android and Pandora or Slacker streaming, or perhaps something perhaps even more robust to get internet radio broadcasts, hopefully without too much retrofitting so that I can also get morning broadcasts of Carl Wolfson from his internet stream too.

Perhaps with Liberty Media playing these cards, now would be a good time for a grass roots movement to dump Sirius/XM and to move to internet/Android based radio streaming.

11. I think I'm going to pay a visit to the car stereo place...

I hear a lot of newer radios are being built (even some of them that ship with the cars themselves) that build in the ability to receive cell or internet streams. Need to see what's available and what might be the best and easiest to get.

One thing to note though. I was just at a seat belt ticket diversion class here in Oregon the other night coincidentally ( ), and the person speaking mentioned that soon some cars might be being made to "block" cell signals if the transmission is not in PARK, to stop the texting problems that are causing so many accidents now. Not sure if that will complicate the newer trend towards doing radios that are intelligent enough to get android streams for services like Pandora or Slacker in to cars or not. I'll be asking about that too. Might factor in to what kind of equipment I might consider getting set up with.

I'm wondering if Sirius/XM would sell a reduced cost internet/android only broadcasting solution if that can be made to work with this new setup. I might consider that, if I don't drop them altogether and find alternative solutions for everything I want that I currently get with Sirius/XM.

I watch Thom Hartmann mostly on FSTV now too when I get home on my PVR. So, having Sirius/XM thing is really only useful when it is live in the car.

16. SiriusXM has wifi-enabled receivers

I have the tabletop wifi/internet-only SiriusXM radio (plus I have the XMP3 portable that I take back and forth to work)... And they have the Lynx Wi-Fi Enabled (also internet-only) portable model "SXi1" as well.. So if you have some sort of wifi access in the car, then you could use that. If cell services weren't blocked in the car environment, you could have it connect via a mobile hotspot (most of which are cell-based).

The issue is getting some sort of wifi service. If the car radio has a wifi subscription, this could connect to it.

22. In some cars, it might be easier enough to install a new stereo yourself

avoid Sony stereos, had the AM/FM tuner went out 2 years after it was installed in my car, the replacement JVC stereo still works

20. But only one is carried by satellite transmission...

And that one Thom Hartmann is no longer on.

So now, you are no better off with a Sirius radio than one than another radio could pick up wifi/cell broadcasts, and you might have more choices now with the latter.

10. Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI ) has never been more popular (more than 25 million subscribers)

We have it in both cars, online, and on my droid. We also bought shares at around .50 a share for our retirement account. Today it closed at $3.68

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/07/10/sirius-xm-will-add-more-than-332000-subs-later-thi.aspx

By Rick Munarriz | July 10, 2013

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI ) has never been more popular. Shares of the satellite-radio provider closed in on yet another five-year high yesterday, after announcing that it added 715,000 net new subscribers during the past three months.

There are now more than 25 million subscribers to the service, and the robust inflows during the second quarter -- fueled by strong automotive sales and a robust economy in which drivers aren't flinching at paying a premium for commercial-free radio -- find Sirius XM boosting its subscriber guidance for all of 2013. Sirius XM now expects to close out the year with 1.5 million net subscriber additions, up from its earlier target of 1.4 million accounts.

The only downside to the rosier guidance is that Sirius XM already has 1.168 million more subscribers than it had when the year began. In other words, we're talking about just 332,000 net new subscribers during the second half of the year.

This would be a big deal if Sirius XM didn't perpetually lowball its forecasts. It's a safe bet that Sirius XM will be averaging more than 55,000 subscribers a month during the next six months. Think about it. Auto sales are still strong, and the growing number of connected cars and streaming smartphone apps are clearly not getting in the way of Sirius XM's growth.

FULL story at link.

12. I'd be careful about these sort of articles that might be trying to "boost" Sirius XM for a sale...

... that Liberty Media is rumored to be looking to do lately on Wall Street to help finance some of its other purchase plans for properties like Time Warner.

13. Digital River Pharmaceuticals

I saw on CNBC (haven't watched it in years) when they talked about it being up more in the current year (several years ago) than Goggle. We bought it. We made about 10 times what we paid. Some British company bought them out cash only and ended our cash cow. I bought some for my mom. She was one happy camper too.

It Sirius gets sold, we are so far ahead, I can't complain. I do appreciate the concern. Thank you.

17. I was originally an XM subscriber right when they were merging

and ended up getting the "Best of Sirius" as an add-on to my XM subscription. My receivers are both XM (plus I have the internet subscription, so I use the app on the phone and can stream on the web or through their wifi tabletop receiver if the sat reception is acting wonky). Of course they have continued to re-jigger all the programming to essentially combine the Sirius lineup with the XM line-up, getting rid of what they consider "duplicates" (except with the RW loon stations...lol).

23. Both are mostly the same, except only Sirius has the feeds of the visiting NFL teams

SiriusXM doesn't have the feeds of the visiting MLB teams, and only one feed of the college games they carry
