George Zimmerman Emerged From Hiding for Truck Crash Rescue (not a joke)

http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-emerged-hiding-truck-crash-rescue/story?id=19735432

George Zimmerman, who has been in hiding since he was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin, emerged to help rescue someone who was trapped in an overturned truck, police said today.

Sanford Police Department Capt. Jim McAuliffe told ABC News that Zimmerman "pulled an individual from a truck that had rolled over" at the intersection of a Florida highway last week. Florida Highway Patrol is now handling the case, McAuliffe said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route 417, police said.

It's the first known sighting of Zimmerman since he left the courtroom following his acquittal last week on murder charges for the death of Martin. Zimmerman, 29, shot and killed Martin, 17, in Sanford, Fla., on Feb. 26, 2012. The jury determined that Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense.

69. ABC does not have reliable fact checkers.

It was ABC that "confirmed" and subsequently reported the spurious names of the Asiana Air pilots who crashed in San Francisco.

http://americablog.com/2013/07/local-tv-news-reports-as-real-fake-joke-names-for-asiana-crash-pilots.html

And then there is this, which requires no comment:

91. I believe ABC was not there.

And apparently no one with a camera was there. Funny since most people have a camera/camera phone with them these days. It would also be pretty stupid for Zimmerman to be driving around Sanford just 3 days after the verdict. But then again, I don't think he tends to make intelligent decisions so who knows.

94. It is my impression

that no media outlet was at the scene. It is being reported on all kinds of news sources, but there is not much information about it. What I have read is that there was a roll-over with no injuries. The driver said Zimmerman pulled him out of the vehicle. After the cops got there, Zimmerman left. I am guessing that the driver told enough people that rumors started to spread around town until some media outlet broke the story. I'm no Zimmerman supporter, but it seems legitimate to me. It's not really that big of a deal.

12. I will wait for further details. ...

It is possible that the story is true. It is also hard to believe that such an incident would happen at this point in Zimmerman's life.

Still it is largely irrelevant to what happened when the Zimmerman/Martin incident went down.

least 120 pounds in the last year, Zimmerman is even in less physically fit condition today then he was at the time he killed Trayvon.

So I have no problem believing that Zimmerman could have pulled or pushed Trayvon to the ground, and that he sat on top of Trayvon the night of the murder.

33. If true, unless the truck was on fire he screwed up

It says he pulled him out, so I am assuming that means the guy was unconscious.

That is a very bad move. After an accident like that you never move an unconscious patient out, or even a conscious one who is complaining of neck pain, until you have their c-spine immobilized and stabilized to the fullest extent possible. Otherwise you risk doing debilitating spinal damage if there is a spinal injury.

The only time you moved someone before stabilizing c-spine was if the truck wa son fire or there was other imminent danger that was greater than the risk form moving them.

It had been a while since my first responder class, so if this has changed anyone more current in the field correct me, but this is who I remember it.

who was in a crash. She was up and walking around and appeared fine, but the Responders asked her if she wanted to be taken to an emergency room just to be checked out. Knowing that symptoms many times show up later, I helped talk her into it. As soon as she agreed, they immobilized her.

He could have caused MAJOR damage by moving the driver.

60. Apparently. He was weak and helpless then, SUPERMAN now...

Yeah, according to his defense team he could barely lift five-pound weights (or something like that since Georgy Porgy was such an utterly weak and helpless adult male compared to the unbelievably powerful teenager Martin, who weighed fifty pounds less than Georgy Porgy at the time of the shooting) (sarcasm in case anyone is wondering) So now Zimmy is pulling adult men out of overturned vehicles (which as another poster pointed out is quite dangerous if said person has any kind of spinal injury)?

This story sounds like such total B.S. PR -- right after the trial and right after President Obama's remarks? Wow. What luck Zimmy. What a good little helper he is!

64. Yeah, the timing is quite remarkable and coincidental

My whole life I've never had that opportunity, and just after acquittal he gets the chance. Of course, I've never called 911 over 50 times either. Extraordinary George Zimmerman

84. that's actually the first thing I thought of

Pulling anyone out of a car wreck is very dangerous to them. Unless it's imperative they be removed from a wrecked vehicle to save their life from an imminent fire or explosion, it's always best to leave these things to EMT's who are trained to recognize possible dangerous physical injuries that make extricating someone a specific way imperative.

I learned that from my own car accident years ago. When I went to get out of the car the police officer that was there warned me not to and why (which scared the shit out of me) and EMS put this big hard plastic neck collar on me while I was still in the car, carried me out of the car, put me on a hard board on a stretcher and actually taped my head in place to the board with duct tape. I would have just gotten out of the car myself and walked to the stretcher and got on it all on my own, but even I couldn't have known if I had a serious neck or back injury that doing that could have caused serious and permanent damage. At the time I thought they were being ridiculous, but after I was able to look back on it I'm damn glad they did the right thing even though I didn't think anything was wrong with me. I still have neck, shoulder and back problems from that accident, but I'm always grateful that the police officer didn't let me get out of the car and EMS took such pains to make sure they got me out and trussed up and boarded into the ambulance as carefully as they did. I'm still not happy about that duct tape though. Surely there's a better way to secure someone's head to a board than that. I thought I'd had half my scalp ripped off when they pulled it off after the x-rays. You could have made a decent wig out of all my hair that got torn out. OUCH! Ugh, my scalp throbbed for days afterward.

That was the first thing I thought of though even before I thought that the whole Zimmerman hero wannabe car wreck story is rubbish. If there is any truth to it I hope they gave him a good dressing down about not just willy nilly pulling anyone out of a car wreck unless it's imperative because of the danger of the car catching fire or exploding. That needs to be left to the learned EMT's.

The police can chase a bad guy into the direction of GZ's house, and he can go outside and shoot the suspect as he runs by.

It seems to me a video should have been taken. A truck accident should get some cell-phone cameras going and we'd have a video of it.

Let's see if one surfaces...

yet the Sanford police only informed ABC about Zimmerman. Why would the Sanford police be issuing a statement about Zimmerman at all, no bias there, nope.

88. Sanford PD is desperately

polishing their turd, not wanting to look as guilty as they are of aiding and abetting a murderer.

IMO, they did everything they could to let him walk when he first murdered Trayvon, now there have been too many eyes on what happened.

If they think people will forget what he did, it's not gonna happen.

89. Yep, I totally agree...

This smells as badly as Zimmerman's version of the night he stalked, confronted, shot and killed Trayvon. The reputation of the Sanford police was already in the toilet and this just adds another turd to it, imo.

Zimmy and his MSM would-be interview bookers are scared of all the support for the kid he murdered.

Disgusting.

He can go back in hiding now, before someone starts talking up the molestation and domestic abuse allegations.

85. Well, it would fit in with his "George Zimmerman Defender of the Universe" theme

He's a wannabe and unhappy that he isn't considered a hero by all.

Even if this is true, it doesn't make him a decent human being.

And, it will feed into his hero complex.

87. I heard someone reading a story on the radio

that said the reason Zimmerman's name did not appear on the police report is because he did not witness the accident. He came upon it and had a fire extinguisher with him. He apparently helped to pull a family, two adults and two children from a Ford Explorer. That's all I really know.

I am not a Zimmerman supporter. I was disappointed with the verdict, but the conspiracy theories I have read in this thread have made me dizzy.

92. Am I reading this right?

He is living in a house in Sanford he rented or purchased? For the trial? He could not afford to get out of Dodge after the trial? Guess the parents don't want him at their house. Too many threats. Maybe true that the lawyers got most of the money. So is he living with the couple who bought him the clothes and teared up at Georgie's story? The PTSD Vietnam vet? I bet he is. Listening to the police scanner at his house. I bet he is. Someone upthread suggested so. It just sounds so like him. Listening now because he is more paranoid than ever. Wanting to save people still. Stung by all the criticism, the insinuation he was a weakling who couldn't punch a hole in a saltine cracker.

It is clear evidence he's on the prowl again.

Someone needs to make him a superhero costume befitting his new rank. Z-Crackerman.

93. Not much of a story even if true.

It's not like the vehicle landed in a lake and they were going to drown so he swam out to save them or it was on fire and he helped them out before they burned to death.

He isn't an EMT as far as I know. He could have done more damage than good, moving a person after a wreck.
