Last night on FOXs Off the Record with Greta Van Susteren, Sarah Palin weighed in on the contraception controversy and after calling mandatory contraception coverage an assault on freedom Palin quoted a guest from an earlier FOX News program saying, We will fight to the death for our freedom of religion. She continued her hyperbole by calling the health insurance coverage of contraception an Un-American act by the President. The controversy started early last week when Catholic Cardinals came out strong saying that the provisions in Health Care Reform that required coverage by insurance of contraception would violate their religion if they provided their employees with the choice to use birth control.
The issue quickly made its way into the GOP Primaries, with most of the candidates railing about religious freedom while they ignored the polls that say 61% of Americans support the government mandated coverage, and that 61% of Catholics themselves support it as well.

(37,158 posts)...on both members and non-members. As opposed to, say, leaving the non-members alone and providing spiritual advice to members to not use services that may go against doctrine, thus preserving freedom of religion for individuals rather than for organizations, when there is a potential conflict.

(20,836 posts)People who may not even be of that faith, but work for an organization loosely related to that religion can't have the same basic insurance coverage as average Americans. By not having coverage they may not be able to afford that health care decision on their own, and thus have less freedom of health care options. That's the new free American Santorum and Palin want for America. A place where your doctor needs to first consult your health care insurance who then has to consult with it's faith based consultant before he can preform a health care procedure for you. If you are rich then you are of course free from the system.
For these people freedom = $. If you don't have $ then you can't have the same freedom the rich will enjoy.

(20,885 posts)How much are you inferring?
I first predicted that Sarah would be president when she was peaking, and being carried on the shoulders of the tea party. "OMG!" I said, in a rare non-orgasmic invocation of a deity. From then on, and I have maintained this position consistently, it was a matter of sticking to my guns. But it comes down to what I think the electorate is capable of.
And consider the upside for me when my omniscience is discovered!
I never use the "sarcasm" thingy. People should work it out the hard way.

(15,953 posts)Have at it Sarah. You and the other Republican's flap your gums until you're blue in the face. Try going on a hunger strike or light yourself on fire in protest. Give this one your all and see where it gets you. If you seriously believe people in this country want to give up birth control and roll back the clock on the sexual revolution then knock yourself out.

(14,040 posts)Ever engage in sex while a rubber was being used? Ever take birth control pills? She had to looking at the age difference between her youngest and next youngest (or she and Todd didn't have sex for years).
So her fight to death is just another attempt to become relevant again.
