10 Catholic Teachings Santorum(Google It) Rejects While Obsessing About Birth Control

http://www.alternet.org/story/154122/10_catholic_teachings_conservatives_reject_while_obsessing_about_birth_control/

1. So for instance, Pope John Paul II was against anyone going to war against Iraq I think you’ll find that Rick Santorum managed to ignore that Catholic teaching.

2.The Conference of Catholic Bishops requires that health care be provided to all Americans. I.e., Rick Santorum’s opposition to universal health care is a betrayal of the Catholic faith he is always trumpeting.

3. The Catholic Church opposes the death penalty for criminals in almost all situations. (Santorum largely supports executions.)

4. The US Conference of Bishops has urged that the federal minimum wage be increased, for the working poor. Santorum in the Senate repeatedly voted against the minimum wage.

5. The bishops want welfare for all needy families...

I am not a fan of the Catholic Church but I agree with them on all 10 of these views.

Even for the "faithful," religion is largely irrelevant baggage.

"you can't be catholic and pro-abortion" but I've never seen one that read "you can't be catholic and pro-war." I wonder why not?

You can be Catholic and pro-war, thanks to the Church's embrace of the doctrine of Just War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_war_theory for more).

"You Can't Be Catholic and Pro-Death Penalty," though, should be out there -- but don't tell FrothyMix.

...the average American Catholic.

They are trying to destroy the Catholic tradition of Social Justice.

I see them a infiltrators and wish they would go to the suburban 'mega-churches' where they would be a better fit.

I think that Protestant Evangelicals, at least the politically active right wingers among them, often ignore the teachings of Jesus. How could someone who believes in God and what God gave to humanity applaud the destruction of the natural environment in the name of profits?
