We could use that enthusiasm on this initiative today . . .Keystone XL pipeline opponents aim for 500000 signatures in one day
Keystone XL opponents are gearing up for yet another fight as the U.S. Congress looks to revive the project.
On Monday Senate Republicans are expected to amend a highway bill that would force construction on Keystone XL, effectively turning President Barack Obamas decision to reject the pipeline.
But the Twitterverse has been afire with environmentalists setting themselves a steep target of getting 500,000 signatures in a single day against TransCanadas pipeline.
Right now, the Senate is considering legislation to resurrect Keystone XL, overriding President Obamas rejection of the pipeline, and greenlighting construction of this disastrous project, said a note on website 350.org.
We have a matter of hours to put together a massive response to show them that approving Keystone is unacceptable. Were partnering with dozens of other organizations, media figures and celebrities to blitz the Senate with over 500,000 messages in 24 hours to demand they stop the pipeline.

(2,323 posts)Something to the effect that these groups are trying to get half a million signatures in 24 hours to stop the pipeline. I almost didn't click on the thread because I thought it was going to be some kind of snark about people who have legitimate criticism of Obama. You are doing this important topic a disservice.
By the way I did click on one of the links and sign.

(85,974 posts). . . but you think I'm doing the issue a disservice? Where's your own post on this subject? How many signatures did you canvass for and obtain?
Typical. This is such a foolish place sometimes.
