When did this site become

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by graham4anything (a host of the General Discussion forum).

a blind group of Obama apologized? The fact is Obama is at best a centrists, but more of an older version of the republican party. Has he done some good things? yes, but lets not act like his policies are that far off from the Laissez-faire capitalist and global police crowd... geez. Its painful to watch elected officials get a free pass because they're "at part of your team" with a d next to their name. When we don't hold our elected officials accountable we get the sad state of affairs we're in now. IMO

8. Doesn't the "Underground" part of Democratic Underground imply that we are progressive?

And therefore more from the left wing of the party than from the conservative or centrist wing?

I always surmised it did, although I could be mistaken, I guess. At any rate, the Democratic Party is a big tent, so there are bound to be differences among us. For example, I personally don't feel it necessary to have an eleventh commandment, such as the Republicans have, which dictates that one never criticizes one's party.

I wish Democrats had party unity based on principles, but that seems to be from a bygone era. We have so many officials who call themselves Democrats and yet embrace Republican conservative & authoritarian principles.

12. Most Who Support President Obama Here Certainly Consider Themselves Progressives, Sir

The 'Community Standards' listing speaks of accommodating and accepting a wide range of center to left views, while the 'Terms of Service' explicitly bar opposition to a Democratic Party candidate in a general election.

3. Sounds like you don't read much of DU

There's plenty of debate and more extreme opposition than extreme support. Most of us have nuanced thinking though it may be very hard for someone like you to understand that. You can support someone in spite of not agreeing with everything they do or think.

'Please proceed, Governor.'

Democrats supporting a Democratic President! You can support the President and not agree with everything.

"at part of your team" - that's interesting.

7. This OP is a steaming pile of crap.

Clearly the Obama supporters are in the minority here, now. Whats painful to watch is the level of vitriol & lack of common courtesy extended between members of DU. Whatever.

11. I don't think that is true?

I would say that 99% of the people here voted for him in the last election. But that does not mean they agree with him 100% of the time. In fact, they disagree in hopes they can change public opinion or just the opinion of the established Democratic Party. That does not make them traitors. Anybody can be a cheerleader.

14. Its not the disagreements that get me.

We need those. Its just the straight up nasty things DUers are saying to each other. The first thread I clicked on this morning called people who arent in snowdens corner "shitbags". & I didnt bother to alert because I knew it would stand. Its worse around here now than primary season. I mean, when we have people here comparing Obama to Hitler & using freeper slurs words to insult him, something is seriously wrong.

16. But it is. You see, a majority of Obama supporters have left the building and

only stop in here to lurk, chuckle, and cast an occasional vote.

This problem is not about du.
