(3,574 posts)of Abbie Hoffman a few years after the '68 democratic convention. A reporter asked Abbie if he could have been bribed to call off the demonstrations. Abbie said he would have taken the money and still held the demonstations (in jest) Then a reporter asked him what the price would be for him to call off the revolution. He responded "my life". Translate - "not for sale"

(9,580 posts)Funny. Hey, what was the deal with the green square that said "urinal cake" that flashed on the screen?

(3,574 posts)...the "urinal cake...it seems odd... But to answer your other question, in 1968 I was 11 and wore this 45 rpm. Out so badly I had to save my lunch money up and go to the National Record Mart to buy a new copy. As I remember, "Bend Me, Shape Me" was. Also big that year. And I think it is to our credit that the bubblegum pop we listened to was of a superior quality to most of what passes for music today.

(3,574 posts)Lfor me the gateway to the hard stuff as I got older... Traffic, Yes, The Stones, Hendrix etc.. It was all groundbreaking music, no one had ever made sounds like that before, or so I thought.
And now, that my formerly long hair has gone grey and away, I am amazed and humbled to find the music of previous generations was light years beyond most of what we did. Most of what I enjoy listening to now is swing from the 20s- 30s, Be-bop from the 40s - 50s, cool jazz of all kinds. All kinds of blues. And Ilearn that a lot of what we listened to was ripped off and watered down from the old stuff. Aerosmiths "Big 10 Inch Record" was a Bull Moose Jackson record from the 50s. Dang.
Well, enough pontification from the old head. DU rocks!
