THE STORY BEHIND THIS VIDEO IS THAT THE LAGRANGE MISSOURI POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCUSED THIS FEMALE AMERICAN BULLDOG NAMED CAMMI OF BEING VICIOUS AND THAT IS THE REASON THEY SHOT HER AND AS YOU CAN SEE SHE WASN'T VICIOUS AT ALL SO IF ANY ASPCA MEMBERS SEE OR JUST ANY AMERICAN DOG LOVER PLEASE HELP FIGHT THIS AND MAKE A STAND. ...and shoots their dog.

Police need to learn that killing dogs does not qualify as "Lawful Destruction of Property" like kicking down a door.

ST. LOUIS • A federal case involving a LaGrange, Mo., police officer who fatally shot a man's dog has settled in the plaintiff's favor for $50,000, the man's attorney said.

The case was set for trial early next week and was settled last month.

I could only watch a few minutes of the video. The dog was being so calm, I cannot understand why they killed her. Most dogs would have barked or greeted them.

I agree the policeman is not fit to serve.

If it was a Pit Bull doing the same thing you would have been the first to volunteer to pull the trigger.

You're partly responsible for this atrocity.

under any circumstances. If he's willing to do this to a defenseless dog with a noose around its neck... who the hell knows what he's willing to do to a person.

Owner files suit after officer shoots pet

LAGRANGE, MO. -- The police officer who shot and killed a LaGrange man's dog is now at the center of a federal civil rights lawsuit.

The lawsuit filed Thursday by Marcus Mays stems from a March 31, 2010 incident that made national news when the video showing officer Doug Howell shooting the American Bulldog surfaced on YouTube.

The complaint filed in the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis says Howell shot the dog while it was secured with a noose around its neck. Howell shot the dog in the chest and fired a second round in the dog's head as its tail continued to wag, the lawsuit says.

May is seeking unspecified damage and legal fees in the three count suit that alleges Howell violated his Fourth Amendment rights of seizure.

I am under no illusions some dogs can be vicious. Regardless of breed. However watching a dog killed is not something I wanna watch. I can't help but think of my dogs. I own a big ol GS. A 110lbs of cuddly fun. But the number 1 biter from what I've read. And he is quite intimidating looking. Which is why I go outta my way to assure folks who see him that he's friendly. And as under my control as a dog could be. Well trained.

And glad the guy won his lawsuit. I don't know how the cop can just shoot the dog.
