She was behind it because of abortion and it was a set up all along. Do you think they will have the guts to ask this RW-rhymes with witch- to step down?

But a Komen insider told HuffPost on Sunday that Karen Handel, Komen's staunchly anti-abortion vice president for public policy, was the main force behind the decision to defund Planned Parenthood and the attempt to make that decision look nonpolitical.
"Karen Handel was the prime instigator of this effort, and she herself personally came up with investigation criteria," the source, who requested anonymity for professional reasons, told HuffPost. "She said, 'If we just say it's about investigations, we can defund Planned Parenthood and no one can blame us for being political.'"

(23,664 posts)Sure she did it but the board and CEO were not exactly dragged into it kicking and screaming.
From what I've seen the entire organization had a decided religious right wing bent.
Handel might have been the "driving force," but she is not the only person there. If anyone else at Komen actually wanted to stop this from happening then it wouldn't have happened.
They thought they could get away with it.
They would not of brought her in in the first place if they didn't want this.

Congrats, Karen, you can now add this to your resume:
- single-handedly destroyed a 30 year old organization in just three days.
(yes, I know many others, ie the board, the CEO, etc, enable her but, hey, it was her idea so I am giving her her due credit)

(1,186 posts)... She'll blame the media and says her freedom of speech was violated by liberal thugs. Her rationale will be that money = speech and she was prevented from spending SGK's funds unfettered by public opinion.

(2,393 posts)"It became clear Thursday night that something had to give," the source said. "Nancy Brinker, Liz Thompson, the board, and leadership were saying, 'We're really worried about Komen's mission if we don't figure this out.' But Karen was still arguing against it [the reversal of the Planned Parenthood decision] as of Friday morning -- she was horrified that we were caving, she said. She's politically tone-deaf."
So, they hired a "politically tone-deaf" woman to be the VP of PUBLIC POLICY????
And from what I understand, this is a pretty sweet gig for Handel - it pays $500,000 per year. She can't get that kind of scratch doing a day job. Maybe once she is booted out, she can go work for some crazy Right Wing group - but they ain't gonna pay her that kind of money. She will go the way of that Christine, "I'm not a witch" chick.
