Do you wanna know a surefire way to get some gun laws passed in Congress?

Bring these guys back to exercise THEIR Second Amendment Rights…

You'll get some serious gun safety laws passed in a heartbeat.

1. How about we don't sink to their level?

We are trying to stop people from trying to force their views on others by threat of violence not use that very tactic.

2. No one's talking about being violent…

Besides, our gun toting friends are sure that they're in the right and it's extremely difficult to convince them otherwise. They show up, guns in hand, not with the intention to commit violence, they claim, but merely to exercise their constitutional rights.

But, hey! Those rights should be for EVERYBODY!

Anyway, they do have one fatal flaw that we can use against them: MOST of them are right wing white males who are in dire fear of black and brown people.

It worked before, why not let it work again?

It's about time the gun nuts understand the conditions that they're creating for America.

3. You mean like voicing thier concerns, exercising their rights, standing against abusive

authority, being assassinated in their homes by the police, and falsely charged and imprisoned?

The Panthers weren't forcing anything on anyone other than their rights.

I'll retract the line.

9. I think we should redefine

By "gun nuts", did you mean people who are diagnosed with mental illness and own a gun? If so, the word "nuts" is a bit insensitive. Or perhaps you meant that everyone who owns a gun is "nuts", if so, that's a pretty broad brush. What should we do with all of the knife nuts, hammer nuts, bow and arrow nuts, Gerbil nuts?

11. Gun nuts are people who value guns over common sense and decency

That's my definition, not the one that you've tried to attach to me.

These are people who make a point of displaying their weapons for no logical reason other that to make a point that they love their guns.

If you can show me another category of people who fit into the knife nuttery, hammer nuttery, bow and arrow nuttery and Gerbil nuttery, along with a their corresponding lobbies, demonstrations, obsessive behavior and congressional fan boys sticking up for them, then, of course, you'd have a valid point.

But we know that these people that you've created don't exist, so it means that you really don't have a valid point, do you?

Thanks for your retort to a non-existent and unattributed accusation.

15. Well, to be fair

I have seen many people carrying hammers and there are web pages for fans of gerbils.

As far as a lobby and such - well, since no one is trying to get the government to take those things away those folks don't need a lobby.

Do a google image search for any of those things you mentioned and you will find 'nuts' - ie, people who enjoy their hobby.

Do a google news search of those same people and laws being introduced to restrict their ownership of things for their hobby as well.

Are people who want to keep abortion legal also 'nuts' if they have a lobby to do so? Or are they just people who want to enjoy the freedom of having choices that they don't think a small group of people in Washington should be restricting?

Oh...I know. Abortions. Guns. Smoking. Not the same thing - but if you strip away the words and images and look at the core it comes down to the same thing - us not having the government control our lives and choices. Don't own a gun. Can't have an abortion. And the only bar I go to at times snubs the smoking ban anyway. So I 'not affected' according to some - but I am because once you let them start limiting such things they will keep limiting things.

A person can stand up on principle and not be a nut.

16. I'd like to clarify something…

Are you saying that there AREN'T any gun nuts over there in the NRA/GOoA/Carry-My-Bushmaster-Everywhere-Around-To-Make-A-Point arena?

Because, sure… You have your "principled" types, whether they're carrying water for the gun manufacturers or not.

But c'mon, you know that a some of these Rambo-Wannabes are nuttier than a year old fruitcake, and they only want to scare people into thinking that they're going have ultra-violent responses IF ever any common sense gun laws are passed.

That's not the kind of response or elicited reaction that any corresponding gerbil or smoking aficionado would ever try and we all know this.

Besides, until one of those "Gerbil nuts" wipe out a room full of school kids, is it too difficult to keep the focus on our society of massively distributed weapons of death and mayhem?

Going off on other tangents is besides the point.

17. But calling people nuts does not add anything to the conversation

I have been called one and an NRA shrill when I don't even own a gun.

Are there people like Ted I would say that the label fits? Sure. But those people are a minority of actual gun owners - but they get all the press because the goal is to vilify and ridicule anyone who does not 100% agree with every law someone wants passed.

Here in Ohio you have to pass a class and register to conceal carry. Got no problem with it.

You want to ban all semi-autos? I got a problem with it. Want to ban one gun because it looks scary while keeping on that does the same thing that looks less scary? Well that is just plain stupid.

And one cannot say anything when it comes to common sense or else we all love the nra and they are giving us wild sex parties to say things. 'Enforce current laws'? Oopps Can't suggest that because someone else at the nra said the same thing and we can't think for ourselves without checking with them first (ie, calling me stupid because I see something as common sense that someone else does).

How many millions own guns vs how many use them to harm others? How many muslims hijack planes and did we not say the rw was preaching hate to condemn the many over the actions of the few.

But if we point out others doing it we hate kids. Just like the right told us we hated America for pointing out when they used the same logic.

Folks can call me what they will for believing in some ideals, I don't care. I am right. If you wash away your principals on one thing don't come whining to me when someone wants to ban abortions, etc, and so on because I don't truly believe people care anymore about the core ideals and principles. They just want to enforce their 'religion' on everyone else by selling fear of their fellow citizens on a constant basis.

or want to take everything literally. Like isoldeblue and drale, it seems they are looking for an arguement.
