The GOP’s Latest Plot: Placing Women’s Lives on the Line!
Instead of fighting for JOBS, Republican House Representatives CHRIS SMITH (NJ) and MIKE PENCE (IN) are leading the GOPs PLOT to place womens lives on the line by introducing CRAFTILY CRAFTED legislation based on a COMPLETELY INCOMPLETE investigation of Planned Parenthood Programs. The result - Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation is cutting its funding for Planned Parenthood. The Associated Press reports that Planned Parenthood says the move results from Komen bowing to pressure from anti-abortion activists in the US. Komen says the key reason is that Planned Parenthood is under investigation in Congress an investigation LAUNCHED BY a conservative REPUBLICAN who was urged to act by anti-abortion groups.
Heres THE PLOT. Representative Smith introduced a MISLEADING BILL named No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion that could end insurance coverage for virtually all abortions, including private insurance that Americans pay for WITH THEIR OWN money. Representative Pences Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act would strip federal family planning funding (as provided by the Title X Family Planning Program from health care providers that also provide abortion care WITH PRIVATE FUNDS.
The utter uselessness and WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS surrounding this matter is that the banning of taxpayer funding for abortions except if the pregnancy was the result of rape, incest or the life of the mother was in danger was, ALREADY, PASSED INTO LAW by the Hyde Amendment in 1976!
Here are reasons why THE PLOT is fatal to womens health AND lives:
1. Most patient care provided by Planned Parenthood Affiliate Health Centers cover sexually transmitted disease/infections (STDs/STDs) testing and treatment followed by cancer screening and prevention, contraception AND fertility awareness-based methods and other womens health services WITH ONLY 6% of services dedicated to NON FEDERALLY FUNDED abortion care.
2. Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundations Planned Parenthood cuts affect breast cancer testing that provide preventative breast exams for ALL low-income women. According to a Daily dose article on Boston.com, Komen program funding provided nearly 170,000 clinical breast exams and 6,400 mammogram referrals issued from Planned Parenthood clinics.
