Romney family dog ran away after drive to Canada.

Mitt Romney may not have told the whole truth about the scandalous tale of his Irish Setter, Seamus, being strapped to the roof of his car during a 12-hour family road trip to Canada. According to a trusted Politicker tipster, two of Mr. Romney’s sons had an off-record conversation with reporters where they revealed the dog ran away when they reached their destination on that infamous journey in 1983.

Mr. Romney’s wife, Ann, has previously said Seamus survived the trip and went on to live to a “ripe old age.” As of this writing, Mr. Romney’s campaign has not responded to multiple requests for comment on this story.

but I gotta tell you, I find it extremely disturbing that people think there's a rich vein of humor to mine in a story about Romney fucking abusing that poor dog and said poor dog being so traumatized that he ran away, probably to suffer a short lifespan of homelessness and hopelessness. The story makes me sad. It's not fucking funny. It's not "woo-hoo, hilarious!!!"

It does show that Romney is a heartless douche prick, unfit to serve as anything except some prototype for a Morman husband robot.

That's the politically useful message I take from it.

But all these fucking jokes about Seamus - they make me pretty well sick.

if the dog ran away, this makes a sad story of animal cruelty ever crueler.

If one is in the "ha ha, cruelty, how hilarious" camp, that's fucked up.

The story is plenty salient for good reasons. Instead of reveling in the puns, how about we focus on what a heartless piece of shit the story reveals Romney to be?

I find the story relevant to his candidacy - but I'm really not enjoying the jokes.

From this story, Seamus went to live in California with Romney's sister until his death.

"Mitt Romney's sister Jane provided this photo as evidence that Seamus was no ordinary dog. She says he was such a social dog that he often left Mitt Romney's Belmont home to visit his "dog friends" around town. "He kept ending up at the pound," she says. "

So apparently Mitt let his dog run loose.

My recollection is that Romney told the story as part of a recollection of a nice family holiday. This shows how clueless and emotionally empty he is. He didn't even realize that the dog's running away was a statement by the dog.
