Hoyer Sees Potential For Cooperation On KeystoneBRIAN BEUTLER - TPMDC

If Republicans drop their political motivations for pursuing the Keystone XL pipeline, theyll find a sympathetic ear in House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer.
The second most powerful Democrat in the House suggested on Tuesday that both the will and the legislative vehicles exist to move forward on Keystone in a bipartisan fashion if Republicans attach it to forthcoming infrastructure legislation in away that allows the administration to fully assess the projects merits as required under existing law.
The issue is how do you include it, Hoyer told reporters at his weekly Capitol briefing. If youre trying to jam the President on this consideration, thats given to him by law to consider whether or not this is something that is safe to do and meets EPA standards, then I think Democrats would generally oppose it.

Steny is a snake, always has been. He hangs that 'D' after his name because that's what it takes to get elected where he lives.

(45,558 posts)4. The conditions that Hoyer is talking about will never be acceptable to the GOP....
This is designed to paint the GOP as more interested in sounding tough than actually doing anything productive.
They are operating in a highly partisan matter and believe that the party comes first whle the country comes later.
Beside the fact Hoyer is from Maryland, one of the most liberal of the "southern" states which means it is still prettu conservative.
