Maybe I'll post it on FB and piss off my conservative nephew who think all liberals should leave the country.

although I would love to send this to him, we are hardly speaking as it is. He is a rabid Republican, as I have posted before ad nauseum. Am trying hard to "let it go". He used to be normal. Sigh

although not as liberal as me. My son told me in 2011 he wouldn't vote for Obama again. I said who are you going to vote for? That was during the GOP "debates" and he wouldn't answer. When Rmoney was nominated, my granddaughters, age 12 and 8, mocked Rmoney continuously. I'm certain my son voted for Obama.

And one only makes such a choice if he's fearful, uneducated, and worried someone else is gonna take what's his.

Or: He's rich, manipulative, and loves the Status Quo because it's lined his coffers. Then he spends his time fomenting the ones in the former paragraph.

Now, our kids can be influenced, but if they're critical thinkers and raised by example, the chances are slim they'll go over to the dark side. It does happen, but luckily it's pretty rare.

Whiny Children Grow Up to Be Conservatives

What happens when professors from Berkeley get together with Canadians? Sunday's Toronto Star reported on a study from the Journal of Research into Personality that concluded that insecure kids look for the reassurance provided by tradition and authority, and find it in conservative politics. The more confident kids are eager to explore alternatives to the way things are and gravitate toward liberal politics. A similar 2003 study out of Stanford concluded that people who are dogmatic, fearful, intolerant of ambiguity and uncertainty, and who crave order and structure are more likely to gravitate to conservatism. Critics branded it the "conservatives are crazy" study and accused the authors of a political bias.

The truth hurts, no?

Just to present an alternative theory, the Star offers "that even if they really did tend to be insecure complainers as kids, they might simply have recognized that the world is a scary, unfair place. The safest thing is to stick to tradition could well be the right one. As for their 'rigidity,' maybe that's just moral certainty."

Of course, whiny-ness and insecurity also means overcompensation. Ever wonder why draft-dodging Republicans are so eager to beat their chest and send other people's kids to war?

Glad you're here!

Then again, ayn rand is ugly on the inside, too. Especially in the place where the human heart would ordinarily be.

After all, what I understand about human anatomy is that the heart physically hangs to the LEFT. Maybe a message from The Creator? That one is BORN to be a liberal?

My theory, having never met the man, is that he's remained a teenager emotionally. And Rand is appealing to a lot of teenagers - she starts to look really stupid when you spend a few years in the real world. So remaining an emotional teenager has allowed Ryan to continue to embrace her philosophy.

But this is entirely from an outside view at the man, an thus isn't terribly fair. However, Ryan isn't terribly fair himself so I really don't feel bad about it.

such as because they're hungry, tired, or want a toy they saw. Conservatives cry for something they never had and that does not exist--a fictional America with no minorities and no government and all women stay pregnant.

Back in the early 70"s, I read an article on a publication that was put out by the Republican party that stated these same characteristics and that is what they pushed their party to do. I think it was right after Nixon left. One of the first requirements was low intelligence and insecurity. I'm going to have to look for it again as it is on the web. I had a friend that was a "Young Republican" going to school in Kirksville, Mo.

Very true, except that the kids should be much uglier. Find a two-year-old with a face like a frying pan full of a**holes, then take a picture of him crying. That's what today's Conservatives really look like.
