Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) joined a Republican-led "talking" filibuster on the nomination of John Brennan as CIA director on Wednesday, objecting to the Obama administration's targeted drone killing policy. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) initiated the filibuster around noon eastern time, with GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT) and Jerry Moran (R-KS) aiding him in the effort.
"The issue of American security and American freedom really doesn't get enough discussion here in the Senate," Wyden said on the floor. "It's my view that has made a number of important couple of points this day."
Wyden added, however, that he would ultimately vote for the confirmation of Brennan.
