Dennis Rodman is a blithering idiot.

To say the least.

Guess what? Dennis Rodman is no diplomat.

Having some familiarity in the area of international diplomacy, I can tell you from first hand experience that it is a delicate dance of nuance. One must be clear about objectives and often, phrasing is parsed within an inch to best put foward the interests of the country one is representing.

Or you can just go to a country and watch some basketball.

Ignoring the sanctions levied against North Korea for their continued pursuit of a nuclear weapons program, shrugging off the hundreds of thousands in harsh prison camps and oblivious to the issues of starvation, famine and hardship suffered by the ordinary North Koreans, Rodman tells This Week host George Stephanopoulos these persuasive words:

“You know, he’s a good guy to me. Guess what? He’s my friend. I don’t condone what he does … as a person to person – he’s my friend.”

(snip)

At the end of the interview, Stephanopoulos presented Rodman with a study from Human Rights Watch about human rights abuses in North Korea.

Rodman responded: “Well either way, either way — guess what, though — guess what — thank you for the report. Guess what, guess what, don’t hate me. Don’t hate me. Guess what. Don’t hate me. Guess what. Don’t hate me.”

8. And your point is...?

Of course he's a blithering idiot.

But what I'm really curious about is why the fuck is This Week even bothering to provide a forum for his stupidity?

Just another in the million or so reasons why I quit watching the crap we have to choose from on Sundays.

10. I was wondering the same thing about This Week and the Rodman coverage in general

the man has made himself a freak show, so why is anyone treating him as if he's serious. It's as ridiculous as he is.

9. If there's an opening for peaceful negotiations

because of Rodman's visit, the US should make the most of it. We are friends with many countries that dont't have human rights. Rodman isn't a trained diplomat, and his innocence is what made him "worthy" of trust. Too bad Rodman can't invite Kim II-Sung here for a return visit. The Huffington Post says that the North Korean leader wants President Obama to call him. I don't see a problem with that. I do see a problem with not knowing what they are doing with their bomb practice...
