5. Pope. Prison. Pope. Prison.

For a few hours weeknights, they have quality programming with Rev. Sharpton, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, and Lawrence O'Donnell. Sometimes Tweety is OK, sometimes he isn't.

Andrea Mitchell can be hit or miss, The Cycle usually sucks because Sippy Cupp is on and the two guys try too hard to be cool. Krystal Ball is actually pretty smart, but also appears on the night time shows.

Tamron Hall and Martin Bashir and usually good, as is Alex Wagner. MSNBC needs to give Joy Reid a show, she's very smart.

Other than that, prison. (Or the Pope, as long as they can string it out.)

6. I am not a Roman Catholic.

Why do I care who is the infallible 'president' of their church?

I do get a bit annoyed with this notion in the mainstream media that everyone cares about what Catholics do ... especially when it comes to the governance of their organization.

Of course, considering the history of genocide, violence, persecution and intolerance perpetrated by that particular sect of Christianity, I have a tough time understanding why it is even still in existence.

as he shuffled out the door.

11. I don't mind so much right now. After all, we could be listening to

a bunch of stupid talking heads (Joy-Ann Reid excluded) spewing about the sequester all damn day.

I am by NO MEANS a religious person. I am an agnostic. However, I view this as history-in-the-making. I mean this will be history textbook stuff in the future. We're talking about this last happening 700 years ago and in 700 year they will still be learning of this time. It's also a significant opportunity for some serious soul-searching for the Catholic church, which will also be academic in future centuries. So, while a lot of events seem big and important to the course of history, this event lives up to the expectation of history.

Edited to add: I would note that the election of President Obama is a moment of great historical significane, even though what we accomplished as a nation had already been done elsewhere. For the U.S., the election of a black man to president is a historic moment that future generations will learn about.

12. You think it's bad now?

Just wait till they start the process of picking a new one.

The Pope will be all that's on TV for the next several weeks.

13. It's either the Pope

or some wingnut getting undeserved airtime.
