Once again, Scalia shows his true colors.

"Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes."

Yeah, you read that right.
Voting, according to Scalia, is now a 'racial entitlement'.
If it's blacks who are doing the voting.

Well he's a very smart guy, there's no doubt about that.
Read his bio and 'resume'.

Stupid me.
I'd always thought (and been taught) that voting was a 'right' of citizens.
Even a responsibility.
Not an 'entitlement'.
Guess I was wrong.
duh

2. I know a 'smart' guy who is still a birther.

Advanced degrees in electrical engineering.
Top of his class.
And he still doesn't believe Obama is a U.S. citizen.
Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

3. I Guess Scalia has Forgotten the Time When Italians and Irish Were Openly Discriminated Against.

There was a time in the ugly past of the US when Italians and Irish were discriminated against for jobs, housing, etc. Too bad Justice Scalia seems to have forgotten that.

And that minorities, sadly, still need the protection of laws in 2013.

4. "No Irish need apply" and "No dogs or jews"

My son-in-law (Irish heritage) has the former sign he found in an antique store.
A "Help Wanted" sign.

My grandmother lived in Florida for a few months in the 1920s (while grandpa tried to make his fortune in the Florida land boom and failed miserably) and reported seeing this sign in an 'Apartments for rent' building.

5. I'm certainly not standing up for the thinking of Scalia, but

there's nothing wrong with calling it an entitlement. They have done their best to denegrate the language, but if you have a right to something are you not entitled to it?
