Fundie Pistorius' snake oil sales man

<snip>
Oscar Pistorius turned to three sources for support following his arrest for killing Reeva Steenkamp: his family, his crack legal team and God.

The last is no surprise. On his back he has a tattooed verse from 1 Corinthians 9:26 in the Bible, which states: “Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly.”

Pistorius, who was being held at the Brooklyn police station in Pretoria, was visited regularly by Pastor Bert Pretorius. But when the pastor was asked by reporters at the weekend who he was, he would not comment or identify himself.

In a sermon to his followers on the internet on Wednesday evening, Pastor Pretorius revealed that he was visiting the Blade Runner every day. “I’ve been ministering to him on a daily basis,” he said in a sermon streamed on his church’s website, which was prerecorded on Wednesday morning. “I am going to him this afternoon.”

1. So what?

Are you saying Pistorius has religious beliefs with which we may not agree? So what?

3. I think

the poster is actually saying that many who commit these types of heinous acts like to hide behind god as if that is supposed to make us forgive and forget.

5. exactly.

I notice these fundy ministers are always comforting the famous perps, but the victims and their families...not so much.

Ideology and dogma...always useful.

4. Full Gospel. Super fundie

South Africa is fertile ground for this stuff. Be interesting to know what language is spoken in Mr. Pretorius's home.

7. Who gives a shit?

The guy's a believer. He's naturally going to turn to his faith at a time like this.

This is basically 'Faith 101' here. Part of the reason people have it at all is because it gives them solace/strength. 'God grant me the serenity' and all that.

It's irrelevant to what matters, which is whether or not he deliberately murdered Reeva Steenkamp.
