It isn't just the Scooter Store

It's Liberty Medical and their come on for diabetes supplies, and the Medical Care Club and their ads for catheters abuse the system no less than the Scooter Store.

Maybe the FBI will get to these folks soon.

1. I have been singing this song for years....

My late BF had numerous medical problems, the way he, his doctors and his suppliers abused the system drove me nuts.

2. Scooter Store commercials are still running.

I saw one this afternoon. And I am sure I will see a Liberty Medical commercial again.

5. Pre-books

Those slots are already paid for. It makes more sense to air them than to try to fill the slot and refund the payment.

7. You aren't the only one.

Are there really THAT MANY people out there who use those things?

8. And wax poetic about the things.

TMI, in my opinion.

I always expect one of those guys to say, "Here, watch me insert this slick little jewel".

4. Liberty just filed for bankruptcy

Big news here in PSL. They are laying off hundreds of workers

6. It's just a scam. They're actually owned by one of the biggest corporations in the business.

"Bankruptcy" is just a way to shed workers and costs and reorganize, since they just got sold to an even bigger medcorp.

9. Stop using dirty catheters!

Seriously, I'm glad Medicare changed their rules. Kinda hard to commit Medicare fraud with catheters.

10. I can see scooter scams, but getting catheters you don't need?

It's not like those have a big street value.

If they do, I don't want to know about it. I already know about sounding, and just typing it out makes me cringe (no judgment, just hard to cath).

11. Um. I've seen some Cadillac looking scooters. They were very big a while back.

I still see some people with very utilitarian ones braving the crosswalks to get around, not the fancy ones that get advertised. When they are charged up, they can really move.

Standard wheelchairs don't work for everyone. We have quadrapelgics who operate theirs with a straw in their mouth which is held there by a rod to use it. A lot of those are Iraqi veterans.

Fortunately where I live the sidewalks have been altered for them to travel whenever they can, and the only thing missing is rain protection. You have to look for them all the time when you're driving as they aren't as visible, of course. I find that people are careful and considerate and yield to those using scooters, wheelchairs and walkers.
