Mother Blames Cops for Murder & Dismemberment of Her Daughter

Mother Blames Cops for Murder & Dismemberment of Her Daughter

DETROIT (CN) - A mother sued police in a Detroit suburb for the murder and dismemberment of her transgender teenage daughter, claiming they revealed her identity to the drug dealers she helped set up, and who killed her.

Shelly Hilliard, who had been born Henry Hilliard Jr., was murdered on Oct. 23, 2011, three days after she cooperated with police, according to the federal complaint filed by her mother, Lyniece Nelson, against the city of Madison Heights and Officers Chad Wolowiec and David Koehler.

...

In October 2011, officers smelled marijuana at a Motel 6 in Madison Heights and found Hilliard, a male companion, Michael Slaughter, and a bag of marijuana in Room 236, Nelson says.

"Defendants Wolowiec and Koehler threatened to arrest Shelly Hilliard and subject her to jail and/or prison - a notoriously dangerous place for any transgendered individual - unless she assisted defendants by identifying the person who sold her and/or Slaughter the marijuana," the complaint states.

...

"At the police station, Defendants Wolowiec and/or Koehler spoke with Clark and at that time told her that she and Red had been arrested because defendants had 'used a lady' at the Motel 6 to 'set up' Red and 'that he was basically set up,'" the complaint states.

"Defendants knew at the time that they were disclosing the identity of plaintiff's decedent Shelly Hilliard - their 'confidential' informant - to a person or persons who were likely to cause her serious injury or death."

2. That is a deeply horrific story

The police need to be held accountable.

14. Leaning on people to become snitches is SOP in the drug war, sometimes with fatal results.

Google Rachel Hoffman, Tallahassee, Florida

When your policing strategy basically consists of systematically coercing people into becoming informants for the state and encouraging more crimes (so the cops can create more snitches, who can set up more people, and on and on), you've got a really ethically and morally challenged system. That's a nice way of putting it.

3. In ancient times, transsexuals were considered shamans in many cultures...

Nowadays, we remain the WORST taboo, at least here in America--though the tide does seem to be turning a bit of late...
Still, in many undereducated minds, it's practically legal to murder us.
Even worse with those who have been miseducated through religious dogma. To them, we're decidedly not good people. We're abominations.
Thanks, Catholicism, for tricking me into hating and reviling myself most of my young life.
Thanks, priests, all ye tax-dodging, truth-twisting holy transvestites and child-molesters. Cannibals for Christ.
Thanks, nuns. Ya buncha twisted necrophiliac perverts. Married to a dead man. Real nice.
Later, Pope Imhotep the 12th.

K&R!

4. I cannot imagine how you must feel..though

I am a woman and have always felt awkward in pink, poses and ruffles. If I was wearing a very feminine dress, I always felt like a man in a dress?

But very conservative women's clothes are just fine....long skirt, dark stockings, black mostly.....almost nun-like.

I don't think I need a sex change...though having a penis might be interesting?

6. Well, a sex change isn't really for everyone, y'know?

I mean, it's one thing to have a normal curiousity about the experiences of the opposite sex at the very least... or to do drag simply as a lark, a bit of rock n' roll rebellion or because it gives your night a lil' extra charge... but that's all a far cry from knowing, from an early age, that your intrinsic gender identity is in direct opposition to your physical form. And that it's gonna make your life impossible. And very very lonely.
I personally really resent being stuck under one big umbrella term of "transgender" with basic fetishists such as gay drag queens and transvestites, or professional female impersonators, and the entire array of genderfuckers in between... cuz more power to all these beautiful people, really... but the fact is, I needed an operation all my life. One I barely dream of anymore.
I wish I were anything else; anything else would be preferable.
Not that I don't love my life, for what it's been worth. I've made the best of an impossible situation. Never thought I'd last this long. I just keep surprising myself.
The lack of response on this post overall seems to support my original thesis, that transsexuals are still the greatest taboo, and it's pretty much okay when they are murdered and dismembered and so forth, even on this hip-as-it-gets-these-days forum, which I have enjoyed posting on for over a decade now, so many brilliant people here--though I have not been as open about my sexual status in the past here--I just wanted to help in any way I could to stem the tide of merciless mediocrity engulfing America of late. I used to do a lot of humor posts.

Anyways, I also tend to think that everyone is bisexual, under the right circumstances. I see that as a basic of human sexual potential.
So ROCK ON, baby!!... and nice to meetcha!

7. I did go to a gay bar and tried to pretend I was a man in drag...but I was just not

pretty enough..

I am bisexual...and LOVE women...and wish I chose the lesbian life...as I was really happiest then...instead I am with a very abusive man...like many women who hate themselves.

9. I'm so sorry to hear that...

NO ONE deserves to be abused by someone who claims to love them. That's the worst part of it for me.
I hope you find a way to get the hell away from him, soon.

It's so sadly NOT funny... men say WE'RE the irrational ones!
But unlike the old saw we hear from them, very often men are NOT so gosh-darn pretty when they're angry. Not at ALL.

8. Thank you, Skittles!

I should point out I'm totally open and full-time, have been for years and years... but on the net, well, you can pick and choose, can't ya?... and I'd started presidentevilonline while still living (at least half-time) and creating as a (supposed) male... and the fact is, the stuff I wrote for that anti-Bush, anti-NewWorldOrder column I'd started when Butch first started running for Pretzeldent, and the site that collected those bombastic little essays, and all the digital Bushmonsters and such, the whole thing's style was very angry and delivered in a rather powerfully masculine writer's voice (one of the few things about me that is still in any way masculine at times)... until near the end of the column run in 2005, when I did come out to my tiny readership, to little reaction. It was a tiny little free weekly in Duluth. I'm from Cleveland, knew the editor. I got a lot more attention when I pulled the stuff together and put it on the net, but haven't been able to keep up with modern site-design software and such these days. Still, just a blip on the big screen, I suppose... it's still up there at
http://presidentevilonline.com

with neat graphics like these littering its many pages:

Still proud of this stuff, after all these years...

GOOD one!

I guess it's not an either/or proposition after all, huh?

Apropos of nothing, save the fact that you liked my art, I might as well take this opportunity to direct your attention to my latest project, a two-volume collection of my 35+ years doing fantasy/horror art...

You can see slideshows of both books at
http://nuancepress.com

I plan to do a collection or two of the sort of political art already displayed in earlier posts here... maybe in the next several months. Not sure there will be much of a market for old, bad news, though...

10. And again, the extremity of the violence says something...

...about the overall lack of any empathy for the victim.
No recognition of a shared humanity, y'know? I saw this many times at the movies. When the tranny gets shot, or set on fire, or even accidentally run over... and everyone jumps up and applauds like MAD, like we just saw the Jaws shark bite the big one for the very first time!
This WAS the 70s, 80s... things have gotten a WEE bit better since then. A WEE bit.
Movies were a big part of it for me. They taught me very well how I could expect to be regarded by society.
And even now, society doesn't give me a whole lotta hope for my own future...

"In the early morning hours of October 23, 2011, three days after defendants Wolowiec and Koehler disclosed the information about Red's informant, Shelly, Red - acting on that information and in concert with an individual named James Matthews - cruelly and brutally murdered Shelly Hilliard," the complaint states.
"In an effort to cover up their crime, they then dismembered her body, scattered the parts around the City of Detroit, and burned her torso.
"Red and Matthews accomplished this horrific task by luring Ms. Hilliard to a house on the 900 block of Longfellow Street in Detroit, on the premise that one of the men wanted a date with her.

It sure can feel wonderful to be wanted!
...sometimes.
Those cops KILLED that girl. Plain and simple.

They are here to serve the public, not the person. There is a mountain of case law on this.

I should have used the sarcasm tag. My bad.

Truth is the police fucked up. Truth is the police absolutely had a hand in the horrific murder. Truth is the police will most likely walk away without so much as a slap on the wrist.

15. I'm willing to bet that the good burghers of Madison Heights will pay out big time for this.

These cops coerced this person into becoming a snitch, then ratted her out to the peopel she snitched on. If there's any justice, they'll pay.
