W. Va. Bill Would Require 3 Drug Tests For Teenage Drivers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) Ė A bill proposed in the West Virginia House of Delegates would require three separate drug tests before teenagers could get a driverís license. It is the latest in a string of proposals to expand government-mandated drug testing in the state.

The bill introduced Tuesday would require potential drivers to pass a drug test before they receive a learnerís permit, an intermediate license and a full license.

Last April, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin signed an executive order mandating drug testing for anyone who participates in government funded job-training programs.

1. and I demand a drug test for every legislator, every time one of them proposes another drug-testing

bill, and before every vote, (oh, and, of course, before they are sworn into office, and before each payday)

2. Sounds good to me.

If they demand it of others, they should be willing to undergo the same requirements.

4. I demand drug testing anyone who even runs for office

I will guarantee there are far more pill poppers and coke snorters in congress than everyone who receives government help combined

5. According to actuary stats, this is actually a great idea if you like Wellness.

Teens already are the worst drivers on average over any other age group.

And driving should be fully regulated and people should not drink and drive.

So I am for this.

(along with seatbelt use, and NO cell phones and doubly NO to texting.)

The safety of the roads is not a partisian issue.

And it takes til about 25 or 26 to get the right reflex motions for driving anyhow.

With the cost of insurance, everybody pays for every accident, so we all save money with less accidents.

And driving means responsiblity.

I would be in favor of more eye tests, and all everytime one renews.

8. I'm all for mandatory driving tests for those over the age of 65 too! Talk about 'dangers' on the

roadway...

10. I personally think teens shouldn't drive at all.

Though its funny to say older people, teens by statistical proof are so many more likely to speed and die.

(now maybe older people cause teens to drive wrecklessly faster, swerving in and out, but older people don't do that. Teens shouldn't drive.

It's why you have to be over 25 to rent a car in alot of states with the major rent a cars.

12. You seem to assume that teens are worse drivers ...

... because they are inherently reckless or more likely to be drugged. What if it's just because they are less experienced at driving? If you raise the driving age, it just makes 25-year-old drivers "the worst", instead of 18-year-old drivers - everybody has to start sometime. If people start driving as teens, at least they are more likely to get adequate instruction.

13. With age comes wisdom. As GBS(or was it Ralph Kramden) said"Youth is wasted on the young"

A 25 year old isn't in such a rush. More responsiblity. Better reflex motions.

When playing a video game, matters little if the vehicle crashes.

It has been proven both lower speed, and seatbelts cause less accidents.

(Why Texas raised the speed limit to 85 I don't know).

You have a point in a way, but I think kids text more while driving than any other age group
(of course that will change as the years go on).

But kids think they are invincible.

7. I just love the fact that the party of small government and less regulation has absolutely no

problem regulating nearly every aspect of our lives (of course, we understand that the "less, or no, regulation, part only applies to their corporate masters).

the disconnect is truly mind-boggling.

16. The O{ is talking about WV

We have a 25 to 9 advantage in the Senate and a 55 to 45 advantage in the House. WV has a Democratic governor. It is a Democratic state so what they are doing is being brought to you by the Democratic party.

and nothing in the linked articles indicated which party proposed that nonsense, although it is generally the repukes who do.

and the comments in the op's linked article are absolutely vile puke nonsense.

I've got a lot of friends in WV and the job situation is pathetic at best. Perhaps WV needs drug testing for lawmakers.

I wonder what company will be running these tests and what Delegates in W. Virginia they are connected to. If I remember correctly the company that was running the tests here in Florida was connected to Skelator.
