Sunday Shooting Review

Here is just some of the gun violence against children from the past week (2/10-2/17) that you should be aware of and which will hopefully motivate you to join the American Academy of Pediatrics and others who are advocating for ways to keep our kids safe:

A 1 year-old boy was shot by a family member in an apartment complex.

A 4 year-old girl shot herself with an unattended handgun.

A 12 year-old girl was shot in her home.

A 9 year-old boy was shot in his car.

A 15 year-old boy shot himself at a Burger King.

A 1 year-old boy and his mother were shot in their home.

A 16 year-old boy was shot by a man demonstrating a firearm.

A 4 year-old boy shot himself with an unattended handgun.

A 13 year-old boy was shot at home while playing with a handgun.

A 15 year-old boy was shot in a botched burglary.

A 3 year-old boy was shot by his mother's boyfriend.

A 16 year-old boy was shot on a rooftop.

A 15 year-old boy was shot in the street.

A 16 year-old boy was shot in the street.

A 14 year-old boy was shot by a friend playing with a gun.

A 15 year-old boy was shot outside his home.

A 16 year-old girl was shot while standing with friends.

A 15 year-old boy and a 16 year-old boy were shot in the street.

Again, I have stopped including reports on children over the age of 16; going to 17 would not quite double the list this week.

Here's to a better week. Thanks for reading.

1. Thanks for posting this really sad information.

I'm putting these up in my classroom for high school seniors to peruse.

3. Thanks for posting this.

Such a tragic waste of lives, unfortunately, most Americans won't see these stats.

5. And I'll join you.

Kick!
I just wish that more Americans could see the carnage and realize how out of control our gun culture is and advocate for more sane gun control laws.

6. I wish every prime time news show did this on a daily basis

Otherwise people forget and become complacent. It has to be in their face daily to affect change.
