Wall Street Bankers Surprised That Senator Elected to Hate Them Hates Them

*snip*

"... when Warren asks Tom Curry, who heads a little regulatory agency called the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, why the OCC hasn't taken more Wall Street banks to trial, rather than settling out of court and getting them to pay a penalty when they break the law, and Curry hems and haws and can't really answer, so he basically goes full Milton from Office Space and then just kind of trails off and sulks."

Lots more!

5. I dont think they have much to fear. She is only a Senator. Those she was talking to

whose job it is to keep the banks in line work for the President.

2. The 'Establishment' is always surprised.

What's really 'surprising' is that we believe them.

'Trust' as it were.

3. k&r! a great woman

Sure, there was always the possibility that she would mellow out once elected. Keep her head down, be a workhorse instead of a show pony, and all of that. But that was always wishful thinking from the financial industry and its lobbyists. As any web editor with access to traffic stats could tell you, people love when Warren squares off on Wall Street. It delights them, the sight of a bespectacled middle-aged professor absolutely hammering suit-clad financiers....

6. Put the bankers in prison and personally fine them

then the banks would not have to come up with the money and shareholders would be protected

7. The Supreme Court has ruled they are people

There was a conspiracy with the banks and their employees.

10. Embarrassing a regulator is one thing. Actually prosecuting the banksters is another.

Warren is great at the former. Let's hope it leads to the latter.

EDITED TO ADD: That sound you hear is me not holding my breath.

13. Senator Warren needs to stay out of small planes

And yes, in her place I'd be worried about physical safety.

15. This is bad?

"Charging banks with lots of crimes, for example, would likely have the unintended consumer-unfriendly result of putting a lot of them out of business."

A LOT of them out of business? HELLO! There USED to be a lot of banks, but not anymore. A LOT of them have been swallowed up and ARE "out of business".

There's a graph of banks being swallowed up by bigger banks somewhere out there, but I couldn't find it.

But it clearly shows there are something like 1/3 (maybe less) the number of banks than there were in the 1970's.

Break 'em up.... like the Phone Company.

17. This is NOT a meme we should promote.

Senator Warren does NOT "HATE" Wall Street.

Repeating the mantra that Senator Warren "Hates Wall Street Bankers" will NOT do us any good.
Senator Warren IS "protecting the Consumers" and "providing the necessary oversight".

I HATE Wall Street Bankers,
but Senator Warren is merely "Doing Her Job".

DURec anyway.
