Sometime within the next 12 years, I plan on running for Governor of Oregon

I'm serious. I feel that I could be a good candidate. The school systems here suck, and with us being one of only 6 states that don't have a sales tax, I feel that incorporating such a tax would benefit our schools. not 2014, but maybe 2018 or 2022, I'll run. Doesn't hurt to try

1. Do it! If I were many years younger, I'd run for Congress.

12. If I hadn't done....

Well, the list is way too long..

I would run for some office too. My philandering knew little limits.

2. You'll Face a Major Uphill Battle

Opposition to a sales tax is deep, widespread and longstanding here. But give it your best shot, by all means, and Oregonians will give you a fair hearing.

6. ^^^ THIS ^^^

"State Rep. dpm12" or even "Rainyburg mayor dpm12" would be much more likely to gain traction than "the little-known dpm12".

Kind of reminds me of when Lowell Weicker ran for governor of CT as an independent on a platform of introducing an income tax. But see, he was "former Senator Lowell Weicker".

4. Compared to other states, the school systems here DON'T "suck"

You would never get elected in a million years if you proposed a sales tax. Oregon is already a high tax state.

You might want to consider a different line of work.

With your attitude about the schools, I wouldn't vote for you.

5. Are you running as an Anti-Choice Democrat in Oregon?

Good luck with that.

7. What makes you think s/he is anti-choice?

I don't see anything about abortion in the OP.

8. I've just been reading people's suggestions

from people that have previously run for public office online, and I have plenty of time in the next six years to save up funds. They said you have to care about what the voters want, not what "you" want, and I will do that, but I will run on a couple of ideas of my own, as well. Maybe I won't talk about sales tax, but it doesn't hurt to say that incorporating sales tax could help boost the economy and help the schools, which are dangerously underfunded.

16. NO. Terrible idea. You will lose, and I will work hard to see it happen

Take your regressive sales tax and shove it. I do not want it, and I feel certain Oregon does not want it either, given how often we have voted that terrible idea down.

Go back to the drawing board. If you want to improve our schools, find a progressive way. A liberal way. A Democratic way. Not a Republican way. Then maybe we can talk.
