WOW, GOP ends house session.

With 5 days left until Sequesture, the GOP ended the session of the House until Monday. I personaly hope it does take effect as it would trigger huge cuts to the Dept of Defense's budget. It seems once something takes place in our Gov't, it stays that way. This might be the way to lower the Defense budget for good. The things that will happen if the Seq goes into effect, should certainly open the eyes of ALL Americans.

"Cuts to Head Start are good" ?

The cuts were implemented according to a theory that the extreme cuts would force negotiators back to the table ... This has not happened ...

The OP neither negotiated the sequester nor did he specify that cuts to Head Start are 'good'

to remind the OP that there are non-defense cuts, and "It seems once something takes place in our Gov't, it stays that way.." also applies to those kinds of cuts.

We're going to have to pay through the nose for broken gov/civilian contracts, and not just the DOD. It occurs to me that the GOP is following Bin Ladin's desire to bankrupt America. Does that make them terrorists?

...that's all the rushpublicans stand for today. Their goal goes beyond wanting President Obama to fail...they want the entire government to be dysfunctional to prove their point that "government is the problem". Thus they don't care if the USPS goes bankrupt...in fact they're applauding it. They will be upset about defense cuts but will be the first to yell how it's government's fault (codeword: Democrats) that have weakened the country.

Their gamble is that by 2014 you'll be so sick of government you'll blame the Democrats. It's the only trick in their bag...

$1.2 trillion in cuts from 2013-2021, broken down into $984 billion in cuts over 9 years + $116 billion in assumed debt service savings.

After you set aside the assumed debt service savings of $116 billion, that leaves $492 billion for Defense Cuts and $492 billion in non-defense Cuts.

The non-defense cuts are taken out of Medicare ($116 billion), PPACA Exchange Subsidies ($7 billion), lower annual discretionary spending ($322 billion), and other mandatory cuts ($47 billion).

It will definitely open the eyes of all Americans...maybe not exactly in the way you're hoping.
