A passenger on Carnival Triumph predicted the problem on 2/7

Stay off the Triumph

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last week we sailed the Triumph and were very disapointed. For over half the cruise the motor couldn't run at full power so we missed Cozumel totally. The room lights were falling and the hallway outside our door smelled like sewage several times. This ship should be docked now. If you're booked on this ship, I'd op for another Carnival ship. This was our 4th Carnival trip. The other three were good ships.

1. It seems to me

that when you book a "Carnival" cruise you have a decent risk of riding a floating cesspool, a fire trap and/or a plague ship.

2. But isn't that half the fun of a cruise?

Maybe not.

3. The risk is about the same on most cruise ships

Carnival is the big dog, so it gets the most exposure, but they all are quite similar

4. Relevant story on Mexican media.

Cliffs notes

Carnival Triumph arrives late at Progresso and will stay two ads to repair Robles with one of it's turbines. (Engines)

5. I think most people that cruise must be Republicans because the way

they were reacting to the truth was hilarious.
read that whole thread and found it very entertaining

6. The back and forth between Carnival cheerleaders and critics is hilarious.

One guy trying to argue that "everything was under control" and then a critic saying that "pooping in bags is not under control" and then some wiseass saying, "Nah, out of control doesn't happen until they run out of bags." I nearly laughed out loud at that one.

Another apologist was talking about how "lucky" the passengers were that their ship caught on fire the last day of the cruise. Kind of like telling a plane crash survivor how lucky he is that the plane crashed while it was landing and not taking off.

8. I would not be surprised if some of the cheerleaders weren't Carnival staff.

Particularly the one guy who was really going after the first poster for suggesting that there might be mechanical issues of concern on that very ship which only four days later had the engine fire. I think he might have quit posting after the fire though.

9. people need to know the risks they take when they board one of these ships

They leave our laws and protections behind, the law is what ever the captain says it is.
Food born illnesses is very common because there are no regulations for food handling.
If you get raped or robbed US law is not a recourse.
