Of course, the cops wanted Dorner dead

Dorner knew that he was going to die, because he knew that there was no way in hell that the cops were going take him alive.

Basically, I think that Dorner felt that he himself deserved to die. He poked the bear on purpose and knew exactly what the response would be. Cops all over this country know full well that they can find any justification that they want in order to take someone's life. Especially, if their department has no civilian oversight. The Press, more times than not, will be completely in the pocket of the police and the politicians understand that they serve at the whim of the police, much like a Praetorian Guard.

Now that he is dead, everyone considers the case closed and they want the issue to go away. They would prefer that any questions about the problems that created a Dorner would go away,

All I wonder is, how long will the LAPD and every other out of control police department in this country remain out of control.

The sociopathy that's deep within American policing isn't going to go away unless the public deals with it. Demand better standards of community policing, remove police leadership that enables the sociopathy, take control of these departments with civilian oversight, demilitarize our police departments, better training and most of all a massive decriminalization effort of our nation's laws.

We have entirely too many laws on the books that cops and courts and jails and prisons depend on to keep this entire problem alive.

Dorner was a tragedy that eventually was going to happen. We can either question and resolve the sociopathy in American policing that facilitated his creation, or we can just close our eyes and ears, defer to the situation as it is and just wait for another Dorner to happen.

What do you want to do?

1. Excellent post.

I'm sure you'll be attacked as a Dorner supporter shortly.

3. I absolutely agree with you, Mr. Scorpio.

Tonight I watched a program called "The Justice Files," which was supposed to be about racial profiling. It was hardly about profiling at all, but rather about police KILLING blacks because they were black and the opportunity arose. Why call it "profiling"? It's NOT profiling, it's MURDER.

4. Thank you!

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

They also need to examine within their profession the fact that their occupation attracts a vastly higher than average number of people with a power complex. I am afraid as things stand, this kind of self-examination will never, ever happen.

5. And we're being forced to pay their salaries and pensions

The old public service ideal is dead. It's now extortion.

We're all hostages.

7. What the hell does this mean?

Cops don't deserve salaries? Or pensions? I guess they should just risk their lives out of the goodness of their hearts?

Held hostages? By what?

6. "What do you want to do?" Excellent question! Often, in many areas today, the masses have

less and less of a voice IMO. Politicians, Institutions, Corporations, MIC, Police, etc. are often one seamless front. The masses elect politicians who often misrepresent them, and/or are elected via false rhetoric.

Then, we have the "deer in the headlight" segment of voters that never know what's going on. Probably one factor that's happening today is more awareness due to more effective communications ... of course working to counter truth is often MSM.

It's a turbulent brew. Too many work their way to the top of the heap with absolutely no altruism in mind at all.

I think much of it boils down to local elections. All individuals need to pay close attention to who is being elected and what they really stand for ... for example, in this area, the republicans have instituted voting for judges. Voting for judges gets difficult, trying to figure out who they are, many skip voting for judges. The R's know this, so they are voting in RW R judges while the masses don't bother often to vote for judges. Also, there was a state rating agency for judges, but here the republicans eliminated that agency ... so most voters have no idea what is going on when it comes to voting for judges. ... just one example.
