Do you keep a Pet Alert Card in your wallet/purse?
After reading a horrible account on our local no-kill shelter's FB page, I present for your consideration; the following:
Include at least two phone numbers of family, friends or neighbors who can be called to provide short-term care for your pets should you be unconscious or so injured you are unable to address this need. Alert these temporary care-givers to the fact that you are doing this and instruct them where your pets are to be boarded should you be hospitalized and they are unable to provide daily care. Alert your boarding kennel to the fact that you are doing this and assure them that you have made appropriate financial provisions to cover boarding costs. ![]()

1. No I haven't. Good idea. I often wondered how my kitty would get care.
|
Although I have given instructions with my family as what to do, it could be days before they could take care of him, if something happened to me and I was unconscious or dead.

3. Excellent idea.
|
I have thought a lot about what would happen if I was in an accident or something and could not tell anyone about my cat...and I live alone, so this is a problem I have thought about. I even go so far as to make sure the toilet is always clean and the cover is up, so at least my cat would have access to fresh water if I didn't make it home....that is how much I worry.
I love this idea, and I will print out the card and have it in my wallet. Another thought----do you have a pet alert on a window so that if there is a fire or other emergency, first responders will know that there is an animal in the house? |

5. I do have a Pet Alert logo for my Golden on our home...
|
By the way; let me know if the image needs to be larger to print out legibly, I can resize it real quick.

6. I am hoping that I can figure out a way to resize it myself.
|
Or I will just create a card in Word or something. No big deal, as long as I have something in my wallet.
Thanks for suggesting this. |

9. I need a Reverse Alert
|
"In case of emergency, feel free to enter the address listed below. Do not approach the cat with the black nose, for she will surely shred your ass."
That being said, this Alert Card is a fine idea. |

13. That is a good idea to add.

If you have a touchy pet, they would need to know. Same with any illness that the pet has. I had a pug that had epilepsy and anything well out of the ordinary would trigger an attack. And if they would have to take meds for the animal, they would know what and where to look to get it for them to have.

12. I had a homemade one when I had an epileptic dog
|
I had my friends # and the vets# as well on the cards.( Thank you Divine One I never had to use it. ). I also had talked to my vet and had made arrangements just in case something had happened to me, one of the techs would have take him. I made it after I heard some stories after 9/11 in Washington and New York. It's always behind my ID, wrapped around a picture of Alex
