1. Would it be the maids or the person he carjacked?

Personally I think it should go to the family of the deputy he murdered yesterday.

13. People who fall into a large sum of money rarely benefit as much as one would think.

Particularly from cultures where there's a large extended family that's expected to benefit from that person's good fortunes. $2000 bucks to this cousin, $5000 to that uncle, etc.

2. When the LAPD spokesman was asked that last night, he said the LAPD

doesn't pay rewards -- outside agencies are the ones who take care of "all that". Do you know who offered it?

3. I thought they included the "up to" caveat...as in "up to a million dollar reward..."

Shouldn't the eighty one year old guy he tied up when he tried to steal the gent's boat get a chunk, too? He pinpointed the guy's whereabouts for a period of time, anyway.

5. Good point. Let's hold them to it. Unless it comes from taxpayer monies.

In which case, it should come from the mayor's pay and police pensions.

6. They predicated it on capture and conviction.

As one DUer pointed out, that means they don't have to pay at all if Dorner was not captured and convicted.

7. TMZ is saying they havn't decided.

http://www.tmz.com/2013/02/13/christopher-dorner-reward-one-million-dollars-loophole/

It will probably come down to whether or not they think it will be bad PR to not give it or if they decide they can get away will sticking to a legalistic interpretation.

Edited to add: Personally, I don't really care. The maids didn't actually offer a tip but called the police to report a crime and get help.
