The Wisconsin branch of the National Rifle Association sure did make a mess of things this past weekend. Not only was their lobbyist caught on tape bragging about how he controls the legislature, but the NRA was handing out copies of The Reality News, an extremist right-wing publication. But not only is it an extremist right-wing publication, its an extremist right-wing publication calling for armed revolt to topple the government. Within the publication was a piece by Karl Koenigs titled, What Would Davy Crockett Say? In the article, he makes a call for armed revolt, to topple the democratically elected government of the United States, following with the imposition of a dictatorship, where he, and those who believe as he does, are the dictators.
A direct quote from the article:
Further in, to resolve the issues he sees with the system, his proposal offers this:

Basic research turns up that Mr. Koenigs is a member of the Constitutional Sheriffs, and part of the Oath Keepers, a group labelled as domestic terrorists. Further research pulled up more of Mr. Koenigs thoughts, including a nicely framed write-up on how to solve the problems in the United States. Read it for yourself (sic on all below):
What YOU and a bunch of Patriots like you need to do is form a coalition to:
2/ Create a framework of communication nodes and a communications HQ which will be the Chairperson of the Committee.
3/ There shall be a node in each State Senate and Assembly voting district in the State.
4/ Each node leader shall procure 20 25+ callers who stand at ready to make calls to their State Senator and Assemblyman upon a signal from HQ to make very well timed and coordinated requests to sponsor and pass initiatives starting with the State Sovereignty Resolution.
5/ Produce a very constitutionally crafted State Sovereignty Resolution with Arrest Provision. The Arrest Provision makes it binding, in every sense of the term and more than just feel good words that are more shallow than a politicians promise.

If they truly believed this drivel, why aren't they willing to die to protect their America?
We already know Nugent's response to armed conflict is to pee and poop his pants and stop brushing his teeth.
Rubio? Bachmann? Boehner? Pailin? Cantor? McConnell? Rushbo? Comb-over Trumpster? Slant-head Hannity? Beckkkk?
Jesus, I've run into drug addicts, thieves, rapists with stronger convictions(no pun intended) and values than these guys, yet voters listen to the GOPhers!

(18,998 posts)And they know what they are doing...they have no intention of risking anything they have or going to jail...what they want is for their nut jobs to start something to terrorize people into submitting to them...they believe that liberals and progressives are basically scared to death of guns and violence and will roll over on their belly to submit if they wave their guns around.
They are basically bullies and cowards, and our biggest problem is we are not calling them on this...not arresting them and charging them with treason...which they certainly commit...
Our justice system seems afraid of them...
And clearly they are when Ted made a statement that was clearly a threat on the president's life they just talked to him...and invite him to the SOTU speech to slap us right in the face with.

(42,693 posts)I have no use for the NRA or for right wing militia groups. But I am old enough to remember when I marched against the War in Vietnam waving banners calling for a "revolution" and there were those that thought we should be charged with treason or punished for sedition under the Smith Act for doing so. I also remember the stories my father told me about the trials brought against member of the Communist Part of the United States under the Smith Act in the 1940s and 1950s and how his past membership in the Lawyers Guild, an organization that defended the CPUSA members cost him a government job. And I remember how the Smith Act -- the law that some here claim should be used to prosecute the NRA and the right wing nut jobs -- was enacted as a tool to be used against labor activists and "socialists."
So, while I have no use for the NRA or the right wing militia groups, I also have no use for the Smith Act and believe that there is far more to fear from a resurrection of that law than there is from a bunch of blow hard militia "revolutionary" wannabes.
