Pelosi nails it: "I am more concerned about Steve Stockman being here than Ted Nugent,"

<snip>

While many have expressed skepticism about Nugent's presence at the State of the Union, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Tuesday she was more worried about Rep. Steven Stockman (R-Texas), the congressman who invited Nugent.

"I am more concerned about Steve Stockman being here than Ted Nugent," she told The Huffington Post. "Ted Nugent will leave. Steve Stockman will still be here."

Yep. Stockman being in the House is a hell of a lot more disturbing than Nugent attending the SOTU.

Further to the point, it appears that all the concern expressed here about Ted Nugent in the run-up to the SOTU came to naught. Sure, I found his presence abominable, but from what I've seen, the media didn't make a big deal over it and he STFU during the President's speech. More to the point, it was Stockman's decision to invite that piece of human excrement in the first place, and I consider it a slap in the face to all the victims of gun violence who were in attendance.

Nothing about Rand Paul either. Just a bunch of hype.

Guess that's good. Don't give them any attention.

It's a little odd to see one congresscritter calling out another congresscritter by name. But Stockman seems determined to out-Gohmert Gohmert, so it's appropriate.

Might as well start calling a dipshit a dipshit. Git 'im, Nancy!

rate an invite, as opposed to Nugent?

Not a single disabled veteran worthy of the honor?

Not a single cop, firefighter, teacher? No local heroes worthy of a little public thanks?

If I were in his district I would consider the Nugent invitation a slap in the face to all the worthy people in his district, people I'm sure would have loved an invite to Washington to be a part of history.

OF course, if our useless POC were to invite a regular joe from our district, I'd be shocked as hell at that as well. I don't know who he DID invite, and I doubt we'll ever know. If I had o guess, I'd say it was some mega-farmer campaign donor.

I heard that on Stephanie Miller. It would have been the decent thing to do to have one of that poor man's family members there. But Stockman is not a decent man, and neither are many of his constituents.http://newsone.com/1542055/lawrence-russell-brewer-executed/

22. Steve Stockman's still making a name for himself

Houston Chronicle
Feb 13, 2013

Like his friend Ted Nugent, the past-his-prime rocker and firearms fanatic, newly elected Congressman Steve Stockman, knows how to call attention to himself, even if the attention takes the form of jeers and derisive laughter.

Stockman, who represents the newly drawn 36th Congressional District, has made a name for himself after only a few weeks in Washington by calling for the impeachment of President Obama, among other frequent absurdities. His latest was inviting Nugent to be his special guest at Tuesday night's State of the Union address.

Stockman, of course, has the right to invite anyone he wants to a presidential speech, but hobnobbing with an unhinged loudmouth says more about the Texas lawmaker's level of seriousness than it does about Nugent, whose fusillade of ridiculous rants over the years include the following (uttered while brandishing a couple of machine guns): "I went to Chicago, and I said, 'Hey Obama, you ought to suck on one of these, you punk.'"

-snip-

Stockman served in Congress in the mid-'90s and made a name for himself by suggesting that the Clinton administration staged the deadly Branch Davidian raid outside Waco to convince Congress that it should ban assault weapons.

Don't mess with California grandmothers! Great quip, Ms. Pelosi! This Texan hopes to see you get your gavel back in 2015.

I was embarrassed by Stockman's antics the first time he was in Congress, I was delighted when the constituents of his old district fired him, and I am mortified and embarrassed that there were enough fools in his new district to elect him again.

Thank heaven I don't live in his district.
