What the hell filters are they using in the Big Bear incident?
I am in PST and I can see clearly for at least five miles. There is no 'dark' at all.
There have been some fragments when I have seen the cameramen switch filters.
Maybe they are trying to dramatize the flames.

6. I am in Big Bear and we are in total darkness.
The place where the cabin is is way low below the peaks so I imagine the sun has been gone from there for longer than it has been gone here.
