Seriously, what is Ted Nugent known for?

At least Chuck Norris was at one time an action movie star before he became a crazy righty...

Other than a long haired drug dealer in a Miami Vice episode, what is his claim to fame other than being a repulsive asshole with insane views?..

Yes, its Nugent in the purple jacket

enough, one of the first times I heard Meatloaf was singing lead on a few songs from Nugents "Free For All" album. That was a couple years before "Bat Out Of Hell".

Seriously though he was a heavy metal rocker in the late 70s. Known for such songs as "Stranglehold" and "Cat Scratch Fever".

Hasn't had any hits since.

He had some success as a musician. Not like he was a great talent but he had a few songs, made a few albums and cashed in for a while.
