CBS LA reporting police scanner indicates Dorner may have fled cabin prior to assault.

The cabin's on fire, police had fired 6 tear gas canisters into the residence but...CBS LA just reported that police scanner indicates that tracks were found leading away from cabin to a "horse corral" and seemed to indicate that police may still be searching for him.

28. that's what I think

Much easier way to go than choking to death slowly on smoke or burning to death.

Dorner could be long gone.

11. Good point. I don't understand how though.

Didn't they have the cabin completely surrounded for hours?

9. I'm not rooting for his escape but those that are talking about shots still being fired

if there is ammo in a burning cabin, it's going to explode from the heat.

14. Is it possible they decided to burn the cabin because they NEED to know if he's in it?

Otherwise, they're standing around while he's actively making an escape?

I still don't understand how he could have gotten out without anyone seeing him, but it seems to happen all the time when a suspect is "surrounded".

15. I believe they tried to smoke him out with tear gas

It is possible the tear gas, depending on what kind it is, started the fire. A cabin could go up in smoke quickly if that's the case.

16. Wood structures up here tend to burn to the ground in minutes because they dry out.

Our average humidity is pretty low.

23. Carter Evans (reporter) reported than almost immediately after the teargas...

...canisters (apparently six of them) into the cabin, there was a pop or gunshot from inside, green smoke came out (the presumed window holes), which changed to white, then black. Several times he made a point of saying the fire started within moments of the tear gas canisters being launched into the house. He also reportedly asked a police deputy whether the fire was caused from the gas canisters or from something else (i.e. Dorner) and the deputy responded that he didn't know.

18. That poor woman who owns the cabin

She and her son were very cooperative with police telling them it had no internet or phone service and no guests were there. I bet she had no idea it would end like this.

The police just pretty much destroy everything going after their most wanted. Geez.

But I imagine that's how it goes especially after several officers have been killed.

21. CBS LA is doing a great job monitoring the scanners.

If that is what they are hearing, it could be.

We really don't know till a search for a body in the rubble and a DNA check, if one is found, is done.

29. More than likely your right.

The fire still looks to be going steady. They really can't get what they need to till after the fire. One thing is for sure, when they do get in there they are going to have their work cut out for them.
