Hockey mascot condor makes a break for it

An enormous Andean condor saw her opportunity for freedom and slipped and slid toward it, leading her handler on a chase and terrifying the team’s coach en route.

The condor, named Queen Victoria, worked free of her wrangler before a Bakersfield Condors minor league hockey game. The bird then tripped along the ice before making a visit to the Condors bench to the mixed shock, amusement and outright horror of players and coaches.

Queen Victoria ended up casually strolling down the players’ tunnel where she was collected, ending her brief taste of freedom.
