Teacher Says Gays Have No Purpose In Life, Wants LGBT Kids Banned From Prom

via SPLC's Facebook page:

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/teacher-says-gays-have-no-purpose-in-life-wants-lgbt-kids-banned-from-prom/discrimination/2013/02/11/60218

A teacher of special needs children in Indiana is speaking out with other Christian parents and students by demanding LGBT kids be banned from a Sullivan High School prom. When asked, teacher Diana Medley responded to a reporter that she believes gay people have no purpose in life, and agrees that anti-gay parents and students should create a separate, “traditional” prom that would ban gay students from attending. Sullivan High School itself is allowing all students to the official prom, but these militant anti-gay Christians are trying to get students to attend their prom instead of the school’s official prom.
(emphasis added)

What a horrendous thing to say. A teacher. Of "special needs children."

12. The people who claim to be on the side of morals and values usually lack them completely.

Fuck this teacher and "Christian" and anyone who thinks like her.

5. If she wants to teach at Fred Phelps High, she should go apply there.

That's why children commit suicide. Because they get that message thrown at them again and again. The woman really needs to be relieved of her job and her school relieved from her.

7. Exactly.

I just saw red when I read this. How can someone who is allegedly a teacher, say stuff like this?

Thank you for verbalizing the point about suicide. It's important that people understand.

20. The school can't afford to fire her

That is, unless their liability insurance protects them from religious-discrimination lawsuits, which this teacher would fire the second she was canned.

She needs to be fired, but the Jesus Card is a terrible and powerful thing.

She mixed her religion with school, and made a public statement of discrimination. Teachers have been fired for less.

33. Maybe that was her objective

Be outrageous, get fired, sue, settle out court, live off the settlement.

That's pretty close to how Phelps operates.

I think she can expect to keep her job with zero friends outside of her cult circle... and get all the really crappy assignments.

10. She has a pretty narrow view of what qualifies as purpose in life

My sister-in-law is a middle school teacher. So her purpose in life, guiding kids on their path to adulthood is negated by the fact that she is a lesbian? I don't think so.

13. What a strange way to put it.

How does sexual orientation affect, say, her ability to teach? Is the only purpose for people to breed? If so, why don't we kill off the sterile and those who are past breeding?

I guess she sees people who are different from her as worthless. Or she hasn't thought about this very much.

have a purpose. Because making babies is the ONLY reason to exist. Making babies is the ONLY reason to have sex. And that is what it boils down to, making babies...

Of course none of us HoMOsexuals have contributed to the betterment of humankind...not one bit!

15. Well I'm gay, and I have no purpose in life.

But I don't think that's anything to do with me being gay. I think it's more to do with me being lazy and unfocussed. I clearly need to MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF MY GAYNESS DAMMIT. I should have a great big GAY LIFE full of GAY SHIT. I need my own Pride float, that's what I need! Yeah! YEAH! A great big FUCK YOU Pride float made out of FOCUS.

I wear brown quite a lot. Does that mean brown is gay?

She sounded very harried, and said the School governing body would shortly put out a statement addressing this issue.

18. I really have to imagine the world from which this person emerged.......

To say that a gay person has no purpose in life is very sanctimonious. This suggests she knows how to value life. Does this mean she, and not God, make this determination? This is of course on the assumption that God exists or that two or more people agree God exists (which I do).

Where does it say in the cobbled, fairy-tail inspired book called the Bible, does it say that gay people's lives have no purpose? Is it the "go forth, be fruitful and multiply?". That must mean that infertile heterosexual couples or heterosexual couples who, by choice, do not pro-create have no purpose in life.

I would suggest that in a world that is over-populated...in a world where we cannot provide safe and plentiful drinking water...in a world where we cannot provide safe and adequate, healthy food...in a world where we cannot provide safe and adequate housing...in a world where we cannot provide gainful and meaningful employment.......we should be encouraging pro-creation?

I think the most immoral organizations in this world are those that openly support and promote pro-creation. The Catholic and Mormon churches come to mind.

We cannot continue to grow the world's population. We must "right-size" the population to the world's ability to provide water, food, housing, employment, health care, etc.

In my mind this teacher is in fact one of the most immoral people on the planet.

25. What an ass

“Homosexual students come to me with their problems, and I don’t agree with them, but I care about them. It’s the same thing with my special needs kids, I think God puts everyone in our lives for a reason,” said Madley.

“‘So the same goes for gays? Do you think they have a purpose in life?’ No I honestly don’t. Sorry, but I don’t. I don’t understand it. A gay person isn’t going to come up and make some change unless it’s to realize that it was a choice and they’re chosing God,” said Medley.

So, she actually thinks she's a superior human being. I smell hateful bigot crazy person who needs to be fired yesterday and not allowed to teach anybody, cause that's just weird.

That reminds me of a little bit of Huckleberry Finn, lol

Now she had got a start, and she went on and told me all about the good place. She said all a body would have to do there was to go around all day long with a harp and sing, forever and ever. So I didn't think much of it. But I never said so. I asked her if she reckoned Tom Sawyer would go there, and she said not by a considerable sight. I was glad about that, because I wanted him and me to be together. (1.7)

32. Gays have no purpose in life due to no children?

What about people who are infertile, do they also have no purpose in life? What if they adopt?

It's really tiresome hearing this old nonsense. Gay couples can adopt and have an influence that will last generations, just like straight couples who choose to adopt instead of having kids biologically.

Rude, insensitive, homophobic and most importantly wrong.

37. An interesting reply at your link

This woman needs to be fired. Schools are an extension of GOVERNMENT. The purpose of schools is to provide the United States with citizens and workers. Religion has no place in our school system. By stating that GAY students have no purpose in life she has violated the teachers code of conduct. Everyone should call the State of Indiana Board of Education and ask to speak with their Division of Professional Standards and make a complaint. (317) 232-9010 is the phone number. Press O for an operator and ask to speak with the Division of Professional Standards to make a complaint. I just got off the phone and lodged mine.

She has proven by her statements that she is not an advocate for all of the student body therefore needs to be dismissed.
