Three Dead in Delaware Courthouse Shooting in Wilmington

(Bloomberg) A shooting at a Delaware courthouse in Wilmington, home to the state’s Chancery Court, resulted in the deaths of at least three people, including the gunman, in a confrontation police and court officials said stemmed from a custody dispute.

Five people were shot in the incident, state police Sergeant Paul G. Shavack said today in an interview. Police said it was unclear whether the two victims, both women, were shot by the assailant, a man, or by police. One of the women, the wife of the assailant according to the Associated Press, was there to attend a custody hearing, court official David Grimaldi said.

The shooter walked into the courthouse lobby and was confronted by police, sparking the exchange of gunfire, police said. The incident stemmed from a domestic dispute involving the gunman and his wife, said a person with direct knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified.

“Our thoughts and prayers right now are with the victims of this senseless violence,” Delaware Governor Jack Markell said in an e-mailed statement. ....................(more)

Apparently armed police presence was not a deterrent, either.

the presence of cops aren't going to stop them, especially if they're bent on suicide by cop, as what seemed to happen today.

I'd like to know more about the shooter, was there an order of protection against, and if so, why did he still have guns?
Did he threaten his ex previously, and if so, why did he still have his guns?

Just have to wait for more details.

how well ending gun free schools will work. Obviously, the gunman KNEW a courthouse would have armed officiers. Hello, NRA?????

Edit: When I was called for Jury Duty in NY, I had to go through a metal detector, in front of an armed officier, before I could get into the courthouse.

Martyrs for the Second Amendment.

Because that is essentially what the NRA and gun fanatics will contend, even if they won't say it out loud.
After all, as the FB image proclaims: "84,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday."

but they didn't die for my freedom, they died because someone had a gun who shouldn't have had a gun, and, there are too many of those fucking things in this country.

Once again, fuck the NRA!

he was so full of rage that he figured that he'd take as many with him before being killed by police.
He probably went there with the express intent of killing his ex wife and then when engaged by police, he decided to go out with a bang.

Just tragic, the loss of innocent lives.
