LAPD manhunt: Charlie Sheen's request to Christopher Dorner - 'Call me' [Video]

http://www.scpr.org/blogs/news/2013/02/09/12490/lapd-manhunt-charlie-sheen-christopher-dorner-call/

Accused killer Christopher Dorner mentioned many celebrities and journalists in his 20-page manifesto.

Dorner expressed criticism to some, and high praise to others. Of those Dorner respected included a Hollywood bad boy.

"Charlie Sheen, you're effin awesome," Dorner wrote.

Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Sheen created a short video reply.

"You mentioned me in your manifesto, so thank you for your kind words," Sheen said from a large couch. "I am urging you to call me. Let's figure out together how to end this thing. Call me. I look forward to talking to you."

Other celebrities Dorner wrote about positively were Larry David, Ellen DeGeneres, and Christoph Waltz.

2. This guy is off his rocker but he likes people with good souls

and good sense of humor. Yet he's a cold blooded killer, well maybe hot blooded killer.

It is not like his phone number is published.

8. I'm going to be charitable here

and simply assume that Sheen was trying to draw this guy out so that the killing spree might end.

There are so very few ways to get a handle on him, by having figures he says he admires call out to say that they'd be OK with talking with him, it gives us a chance to figure out how to get this to stop. Innocent peoples' lives are on the line here, both the families of cops, and the folks who drive vehicles that resemble Dorner's. I salute Charlie Sheen for putting himself out there to stop the violence.

9. That was my first impression before the cynical thought

Sheen thought: why not - I could talk to him and be a bridge and have no reason to be afraid of him ... but the funny thing about stars is they have an unconscious ability to promote themselves even when doing good deeds! They are in that sense not like us..

11. In this case, it's forgivable

Because the only way to get Sheen's message out there is to do something that looks like self-promotion. Whatever ends this killing spree is fine with me, and that includes recon drones to find him in the mountains.

Innocent people are at risk as long as the cops are scared, and whatever takes this guy down and restores a tiny measure of sanity is worth it. We saw what the D. C. snipers did to an area when they made people afraid to even leave their homes to buy gasoline.

12. Agree csg

The difference with the D. C. snipers is that we're not afraid to leave our houses really because Dorner seems to be only interested in selected targets. The police on the other hand are a bit inaccurate! Let's hope this ends soon and it would be fantastic if Sheen could help. I wonder if Dorner is a social media user -- anything can happen via that channel.

6. Is he insane? As a former cop, Dorner probably knows where many celebs live

When someone is armed and dangerous (and possibly mentally ill), you don't want that person to be thinking about you for any reason whatsoever! Sure the meeting could start off great, but you never know what might cause him to snap.

7. I think Dorner has a "narrative"

and that this is what is driving him. Yes, he's nuts but I don't think he's random. Otherwise I'd be more worried walking around in LA right now!
