Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity

This guy looks like the fugitive

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

His pickup, police later explained, matched the description of the one belonging to Christopher Jordan Dorner — the ex-cop who has evaded authorities after allegedly killing three and wounding two more. But the pickups were different makes and colors. And Perdue looks nothing like Dorner: He's several inches shorter and about a hundred pounds lighter. And Perdue is white; Dorner is black.

"I don't want to use the word buffoonery but it really is unbridled police lawlessness," said Robert Sheahen, Perdue's attorney. "These people need training and they need restraint."

2. If they shoot enough people, eventually they'll get the right one.

They're doing a really good job of making Dorner's point for him.

4. The police are a greater danger to public safety than Dorner.

I hope there's some big lawsuits filed, along with some cops fired and charged. Incompetence of this magnitude is intolerable. There won't be an unsympathetic jury to be found. These victims of police malfeasence will collect millions.

10. What I am having trouble with is that the police were close and shot numberous times and MISSED.

Even in the case where they shot the ladies, good grief they missed most of the time. I get the feeling they are shooting with their eyes closed.

I am glad they cant seem to hit the broad side of a barn.

It was, if I recall correctly, the same day the Latino newspaper carriers were shot.

32. Thanks for the info...

I've been sick for over a week now, sleeping several times a day, til they have all run together and I really don't even know what day it is sometimes. I went to sleep friday night arounnd 10:30 or so, woke up and the clock said 5:03... I thought it was morning, but it was 5:03 *PM*... and I've been up since, except for a little 20 minute nap here and there..

Honestly, I don't even know what started all this mess to begin with, but read something in a post about a Manifesto or something. Is there a link that you know of that tells the whole story from the beginning?

Thanks in advance...

Peace,

Ghost

35. Just go to latimes.com

The LA Times has been covering this extensively--LAPD headquarters is right across the street from the LA Times building in downtown LA. The LA Times has all the latest updates as well as all the old stories linked next to the current ones on Dorner.

14. Responsible trained gun owners at work.

Be aware of your surroundings, responsible trained gun owners at work.

They will shoot first, shoot badly, and bury questions later.

15. An EXCELLENT argument against the notion that only police can be trusted with guns

What lunacy. And now California lawmakers are weighing laws that clamp down on civilians even more while giving more latitude to the LAPD to do more of the same.

28. Almost every gun control law grants exemptions for police and retired police

When gun control legislation gets written, the authors generally want to be able to point to "having the support of law enforcement agencies". Which is a little bit silly of course, since the law enforcement agencies are happy to sign up for legislation that doesn't affect them or their members post retirement.

The police are on the rampage, shooting first and asking questions later. Maybe they are inspired by the drone program?

they had guns drawn on a businessman in San Diego

All of a sudden I turn around and look back and see another behind a tree with a machine gun and thought, ‘this is not good,’” he said.

How encouraging that they shoot indiscriminately at people of many different ethnicities and genders.

27. Have the cops released the make and model of the Dorner vehicle?

Because I'd advise every person who owns one to keep it tightly under wraps, in a garage if you have one.

Scared cops are the most dangerous ones.

I have a magnetic sign on my truck that says "NEWSPAPER"...and I ride around with my dome light on.....

Now ...I not only have to worry about people robbing me to get the spare change that I get out of the machines... I have to worry about cops opening fire on me.. it's just not worth it.....

and end up killing that person?

All this over the hunt for one man. The LAPD has gone mad. An example of "good guys" who DON'T need guns.
