5. LaPierre never was in the military.

I dislike him intensely, too, but it serves no purpose to make up stuff. He dodged the selective service and Nam with college deferments.

Of course, it's not to say that he isn't possibly emotionally unstable

Thank you for the info, Angry Dragon.

11. I'll believe your post

when you provide a link.

I am not sure a state can do that. But I might be wrong.

10. Well, not ThePeter, that's for sure.

Basically, though, background checks couldn't hurt, might help, so let's do it would be my view.

17. I believe La Pierre, and here's why

He testified that criminals won't submit to background checks. Exactly. That's what the NRA is afraid of. Criminals are big consumers of guns. If they have trouble accessing them, profits for the gun manufacturers go down. The NRA opposes universal background checks because it will decrease sales to those not eligible to legally purchase guns.

19. After Columbine, one Congressman was approached by a pro-gun colleague...

seems that the NRA would support closing the gun-show-loophole only if the Pawn Shop loophole was reopened.

You're 100% correct.
