Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Fri Feb 8, 2013, 08:39 PM

Normally I'd buy hearts and give 'em to myself...

so people would think I'm not a total loser, but no need this year! I just got hearted, seems like they're from three different folks.

I'm guessing it was Sid who gave me the big bunch.

So Sid and/or whoever else:

THANK YOU!

(I hope this isn't some twisted Third Way trick that ends up with my being droned.)

It worked, too.

3. I think we should have a coronation of the most popular - according to hearts

and then DU would be even more like High School!

Queen and King of DU!

4. Aw, don't be bitter.

Some of us have been on DU since it started. We've made a lot of connections over all those years, and it's fun to throw some hearts at the folks we've gotten to know over the past 12 years.

I generally don't get many hearts, but that's because I don't post much. It doesn't bother me. I'm happy to get even a single heart, because it means that someone had a kind thought for me. And I would never begrudge those who get dozens of hearts - they post lots more than I ever do, so lots more people are familiar with them.

My sense of self-worth is in no way tied to how many hearts I collect - what actually makes me the happiest is how many hearts I can give.

11. both

Ōjo or Hime work. But Hime is a princess of royal blood. I do have Kansai blood, (Kansai district of Japan, or the Osaka Area.) Osaka Castle was held once by The last shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu, used Osaka Castle as a meeting hall. I have ancestors who were samurai and were loyal to those in power at the time.

I wonder what your samurai ancestors did after the Shogunate was toppled during the Meiji Restoration?

22. No idea really...

I only know about a few...

Shunsho Asahina as a possible ancestor

Asahina Yoshihide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asahina_Yoshihide.)

I should really try and dig up more information... Obviously the swords I own, belonged to someone who could
wear them during the time.

These were on display a few years ago at our local Sakura Matsuri at Nihonmachi. I am glad my dad
didn't find out about it..I think he would have been a little miffed. But I won't show them again..because
it would not be a good idea, tempting fate (having them stolen) once again.

There is this..

The Saburō Falls at the beginning of the Asaina Pass, both named after Asahina Yoshihide.

found this too:

The Asahina of Suruga province were descended from Wada Yoshimori (1147-1213), whose 3rd son Yoshihide adopted the name Asahina. They entered the Sengoku Period as a chief Imagawa retainer family and were represented by two branches, one of which produced Asahina Yasutomo while the other was headed by Asahina Nobuoki. The Asahina became especially important after the Imagawa defeat at Okehazama in 1560, for afterwards Imagawa Ujizane came to rely on them to maintain order within his domain. Following the collapse of the Imagawa in 1569, the Asahina became vassals of the conquering Takeda. When the Takeda were in turn destroyed, surviving Asahina entered the service of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

30. I don't know how old they are..

Someone figured between 1600 to early 1700s. I have never checked to see who created them, there is a way to tell..but it would mean unwrapping part of it, and I don't want to ruin it. Everything is original.

Maybe you can compare your swords with these:

how come everyone doesn't have at least one heart? I thought the same about the admins because nobody really likes me around here, but then I looked around and saw quite a few without any hearts.

Getting a heart may induce you to give others a heart.
