4. I agree with Kalidurg (below)

not teaching the subject or topic at all would be a form of neglect, but teaching material which preempts the truth is abuse. I call it proactive ignorance ... going out of your way to make your charges more ignorant.

2. It's also simple-minded to think that creationism ALWAYS holds that the earth is only 6000 years old

Many people believe in a creator but also believe in science. Religion and science do not have to be mutually exclusive.

3. Neglecting a child's education is abuse...

but, it is an insidious abuse. It might not look like it's hurting the child in the short term. But, eventually if the child wants to have a higher education and possibly not live in poverty as an adult, this neglect can be crippling. I don't see a solution to the problem though. Parents have a whole lot of leeway in what they are allowed to teach their children.
