Mitt Romney Quadrupling Size of California Oceanfront Home

Where are those tax returns!!?

Mitt Romney Quadrupling Size of California Oceanfront Home

Despite some opposition from neighbors, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is going forward with plans to demolish his 3,000-square-foot California oceanfront home and replace it with a 12,000-square-foot mansion.

The teardown and replacement of the home in La Jolla was delayed after Romney, estimated to be worth nearly $250 million, was attacked for his wealth during the 2012 campaign and opponents tried to define him as someone who couldn't relate to the average American.

One of the reported renovations is the inclusion of an elevator for his cars that would carry the vehicles to his basement garage.

Last spring, when news of the proposed garage first surfaced, Romney was ridiculed by liberals and conservatives alike for wanting to add the elevator to the La Jolla home.

5. a small disagreement here, think of it more like

my wife insists that i step on the bug, knowing full well i would rather see him live. Hiring these illegals is clearly the responsibility of his lieutenants.

6. and al gore has multiple large homes, as does most of congress, D or R, because they're all RICH.

They all work for the even RICHER. There is no significant difference between Romney and other members of his class.

10. I am sure there are other politicians with car elevators. It's not uncommon among those with

money. especially in the city or tight lots -- which romney's actually is (for my money, i don't get why he didn't get a bigger lot somewhere else instead of one that butts up against the neighbors even with the existing house, which he is expanding.)

i've seen a couple of car elevators on those tv shows about fancy/unusual houses -- and those people were obscure rich people.

car turntables are also popular -- where you drive in and the floor turns so you don't have to back out. seen several of those on the home shows too.

obscene crap, but there it is.

romney gets flack here because he was the republican nominee, but he's just another rich person.

7. Mitt is the eternal poster boy

for crass conspicuous consumption. We are beyond fortunate that he is not in the White House.

12. Didn't he try to get the house declared an historic site so he could get a tax break?

I know he tried to get the assessment reduced, claiming he "overpaid" for the place.

Skeevy guy.

This is, after all, the point behind capitalism, which the ruling class obviously endorses.
