This Could Be The First Drone-Proof City

Asher J. Kohn, a law student and conceptual artist, has come up with a novel idea.

If we built communities designed to counter surveillance and targeted drone strikes, then all the new and upcoming, super expensive drones would be worthless hunks of metal.

Kelsey Atherton of Popular Science describes "Shura City" basically as a possible end to the current, and for the foreseeable future, preferred means for often unaccountable leaders to wage war.

From PopSci:
design for the warfare of our time, in which the United States favors sending robots, over people, to hunt down small groups or individuals.

3. So those of us opposed to drone technology are Glen Beck fluffers?

I'm getting so sick and tired of this mantra.

9. Not at all

Can't speak for the poster, but I think it's just a joke. Glenn Beck has announced plans to open some sort of retreat/city/whatever modeled on his worldview.

2. Well - the MK-5 drones are designed to resemble winged monkeys and can be equipped with scissors.

Actually if I were making drones, I'd totally want to make them like Winged Monkeys.

5. Scissors? What about Elmers glue? Then we could use drones to do our art projects.

4. It would be real easy to counter a drone

with lasers. Send a laser beam up to a drones sensor and the drone wouldn't be able to read telemetry about its location.

6. This amounts to a fixed emplacement about which I automatically think "Maginot Line"

A technological version of it at least. All that this needs to make it a wasteful relic is a new piece of technology that renders the countermeasures ineffective.
