Do you think BecKKK's Galt Dude Ranch will turn into a Jim Jones situation?

It sounds like a recipe for a horrific disaster

1. Galt?

As in California? (Gulp)

If so, this could get interesting. President Obama just sold off a bunch of federal land, smack dab in the middle of farm country, which oil companies quickly bought up. The plans are to start fracking the farm land (and contaminating the drinking water in the process). Guess where one of those areas is?

4. No, as in "who is John" or "going".

It'll be in Texas, in the unlikely event nobody involved in the planning rips off the money.

6. Ah, I saw the name

and assumed it was the California town just south of Sacramento. Not familiar with the other references.

2. i don't think Glenn is capable of anything approaching long term planning

this is more likely a flash in the pan thing.... a chance to fleece his way, as he winds his way through conservative America...

5. no

Beck isn't charismatic enough to have that kind of devoted followers who would do something so extreme like that. The guy is a clown, nothing more.

9. I don't think so. I'm worried about the larger implications. Barton is involved.

In Rick Synder's Michigan, he privatizing everything in sight. Belle Isle will be a separate country, almost, a fiefdom for the rich, not just a country club as alleged at the beginning of the land grab.

They are stealing park land nationwide, school and other infrastructure, roads and all of that. This may be based on the same legal framework as Belle Isle - in others, it will be another country. This has been predicted as the end run of the Koch brothers, along with tolls.

Americans will be denied vast swaths of lands and egress from one location to another the way they are doing it. There is a form of apartheid being set up that is solely economic. People are, in a way, being cleansed out of some areas. We hear of people moving out of some states because the political climate is too toxic.

Is this a large problem? IDK . Could it turn into a large problem - I think it could. Jonestown would not be that big a problem, although a tragedy. We are having religious compounds built up where the people living there do not obey the laws of the land. They are not acting as Americans, do not pay taxes, do not need public services. They are separate. This is something fundies have always talked about creating. They may not be able to take entire states with them, but they are taking pieces.

Don't know what the end of this is or if it's going to happen more and more. There seems to be little unity and poltiical will to stop this.

13. Beck seems to have developed a God complex

Having an area where his acolytes can come to to fully praise his magnificence and a place where he can act out his God fantasy is a natural progression of his delusional ego.
I doubt he'd have all his Beckies kill themselves en masse but a trained American version of Al-Quiada might be more a possibility as God needs to appear to wield power..

14. I'm thinking more along the lines of OK corral.

Possibly Hatfields and McCoys.

Or maybe go really epic, the bridge scene in Apocalypse Now.
